Default New Computer is completed...

Ok.. she'* ready to be unveiled, picked up the final piece last week..

Case: Antec P180b - 99% perfect, heavy because it'* steel
CPU: Intel Q6600 Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz ($199 Retail box)
Mobo: Gigabyte DS3R
Memory: Corsair XMS2 2x1Gig DDR2 PC-800 ($29 AR)
GPU: XFX 8800 GT 512MB Alpha Dog Edition
HDD: Seagate 7200.10 250Gig SATA3 ($70)
Optical: 2x Samsung Lightscribe (SH203 and SH183, Later was $25 with software)
PSU: Coolermaster Real Power Pro 750w ($59 AR)
OS: Vista 32 Bit.

I'm reusuing:
Microsoft Desktop Elite wireless KB
Logitech MX Revolution
Monsoon MM-700 Speakers

Dell 8200 Circa June 2002, meet your Buddy/Replacement. The white box under the dell? My new powerstrip... Hides the cables , I LOVE IT.

Steel/Plastic/Steel sandwiched panels for ultimate quiet. HDDs and PSU mounted with rubber isolators std in this case.

Door Opens flat against the side of the computer if you prefer to have it out of the way, magnetic closure up front as well.

Air filters up front for dust, removable, cleanable, and I'm due soon)

Two chamber, bottom PSU design. Keeps PSU seperate from the mobo heat, it sucks in only cool air on the bottom.

Cable routing is great with this, All my power leads run between the motherboard tray, and the door. Cutouts are provided to give access to this wonderful area. First revision of the case did not support this.. Airfow is VERY unrestricted.

I removed the fan between the powersupply and HDD, and put it up front where the Middle HD cage is for better flow. I really wanted a modular PSU, but for $60 AR, a very good 750w will last me forever.

Finally, the last piece... I'm due for a new monitor. the 15" LCD wasn't cutting it anymore, i felt cramped on it.
Enter the HP w2207h. Hdmi and vga inputs, USB 2.0, best stand on a 22" widescreen that goes up, down, rotates, etc... and a glossy screen.

Cool PC! That'* a good deal on the memory, too! Nice stuff.

But what are you doing with that 15" monitor? May I please, please buy it or have it or take it or something? Please?

You should get a nice air cooler for the cpu and try a little overclocking. If it'* a G0 stepping then it should OC very nicely. My X3210 is a G0, and it will easily hit 3.4Ghz to 3.6Ghz. The Q6600'* should hit similar speeds without much problem. You got a good mobo for overclocking too btw, the Gigabytes are usually pretty good at it.

Very nice and pretty good wire management by the way, I built a new PC recently too, also with a Intel Kentsfield Quad and a 8800GT...

Specs are as follows:
Mobo: DFI LanParty "Dark" P35-T2RS
CPU: Intel Xeon X3210 G0 Quad Core @ 3.2Ghz (Stock = 2.13Ghz)
HS/F: Thermalright Ultra 120A w/Scythe *-Flex SFF21F 120mm
RAM: G.Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-1000
GPU: eVGA Geforce 8800GT 512MB
HDD: Western Digital 320GB SATA 3.0GB/* (16MB cache)
Optical: BenQ DW1655 16x DL LightScribe DVD±RW
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5 (w/window)
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1

It'* one hell of a system for under $1100 USD (including shipping/tax)

I use a 20" Widescreen Dell Ultrasharp as my monitor. And I have a Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse.

Yah, the case is great.

As per the 15" i'd like to run duals, or atleast have it on the desk with the old comp on VGA, and dual on the DVI from this new setup, but I don't really have room. The desk will be replaced this year I forsee... But I'd let it go for a decent price. PM ME!

Yes it'* a G0 stepping, I've run @ 2.7 on the intel HSF, ran fine. I'm not a hardcore OC'r, but At some point i'll probably add in one of the newer 320gb/platter drives from samsung or WD, and a nice CPU cooler to OC some.

Vista 64 and 2 more gigs would be great as well.. Money isn't an issue, but there are other wants to fulfill now, this thing flies as it is, no real hiccups yet.

I should probably take this time to mention that I once got a silver Antec P180 for free. The front panel had come off, but it was a relatively easy fix. And now for the evil laughter:

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I do like the P180b that you have a lot better, though. Good choice. How much space do you have after the video card before the hard drives?

Case as you say, is amazing. The new revision I have has some great improvements. They've also changed the front door to the 3 layer panel like the sides, they don't break anymore..

My Hard drive is in the lower bay I'm keeping the middle bay in so it helps route some wires better, and gives a tunnel for my relocated fan to shoot though. The 8800GT is a great card for space too, definitely not an ultra or any of those with regards to length.

Desk is larger than it appears... That 22" makes it look tiny..

The WD 320GB drive in my new system is one of the 320GB per platter drives by the way. It gives my friend'* RAID0 setup a run for it'* money. Very fast hard drive, and it even scores a 5.9 in the Vista benchmark. Only single (non-RAID) drive I ever seen do that.

Well the 250 I run does that.. I guess vista doesn't think 2 gigs is enough, even though i've never run into an issue with it so far.
