Oh its true, but there'* no excuse for it. If I recall, we paid $90 a month at her old job for family insurance and her epilepsy was pre-existing.

Whats messed up is that her old job and new job both use Blue Cross Blue Shield. So why is this policy 10x what the other was? It just doesn't make sense. Did her new employer cheap out on the insurance plan that much?

Jon, something'* seriously wrong here. There was a mistake somewhere or someone filled something out improperly. I pay less than that for my health, vision, and dental for myself and my wife annually. While I know we don't have two kids, generally going from worker + spouse to worker + family doesn't raise it THAT much. I don't know of anyone who pays that much.

Contact her work and have them double check the paperwork and the numbers. At that point its cheaper to just save the money for when you need it.

Nope! Furthermore, I think that she'* working for a state funded organization. I've always heard that state employees had good insurance.
