For the last couple weeks I've been looking to buy a bike (crotch rocket). About five of my buddies that graduated with me in 2003 have them and where helping me look for a bike. The idea left my mind after Tuesday night the worst of the worst happend. The whole group of them were out riding around 10:30 pm when one of my good friends lost control and hit a gaurd rail head on at 70 mph. Luckily he escaped with a broken back in three places, a broken pelvis, a broken collar bone and a blood clot in his back. His girlfriend, a seventeen year old senior in highschool, did not make it. Everyone here in Holly is devistated and in shock. Its crazy seeing someone, then an hour later they are gone just like that. Just wanted to tell you bikers out there, or even if your in your bonnie, drive safe...

Yikes, thats scary how someone can just vanish like that. Where they wearing a helmet?

Yeah they both were... he was laying 85 feet from the bike to her 40... but she flew strait up. My friends that tried to help her said her helmet was cracked and she was lying face down.

I am so sorry to hear about your friends. Life is precious and we never know how long we have here on Earth. It is so hard to deal with all the feelings you go through after something like this. , I'd had lost some friends that way also. Thats one of the reasons why I stopped getting rides on bikes.

Yeah man, it'* a very sobering experience. Death really forces you to take a step back and look at the big picture of life. You really have to weigh out the things that matter and the things that don't. After hearing about something like that, I'm reminded for yet another reason that there is something bigger out there. It makes this whole business of caring about my car seem pretty insignificant in perspective. May the grief be short-lived, and the good memories abound...

I'm VERY fortunate to be around after this past june I lost traction on my bike (2003 100th anniversary Harley Davidson ) when I was goin through a corner at about 40-45 like I did every day goin to and from work, I hit something slick with the rear tire and I tried to chase it wide and ended up finding sand on the edge of the road way and smacked a curb head on. Right when I knew that there was nothing that I could do, I let go of the bars and pegs and hit the curb and the rear of the bike launched me about 10-15 ft in the air (According to one of my riding buddies) and landed on the pavement and skid/rolled for about 25-30 yds. I still can't believe that I walked away from where I stopped, picked up my bike and wheeled it out of the roadway. I should be gone or severly messed up right now because I was not wearing a helmet, someone or something was holding my head away from the pavement because I didn't even get so much as a bump on it when I hit the ground. When your life is that close to coming to an end, like a matter of a split second or mm, you definantly have a new perspective to life. My buddy riding behind me missed my skidding bike by about a foot or less when he went by and I almost was hit by a suburban (never saw it) but that'* what I was told. Every morning I pray many many MANY thanks to God to be alive. It was a sad end to probably one of the happiest days in my life, because that was the day I got my Bonne for free officially, began dating my current girl friend, and it was 2 weeks until my birthday......I almost didn't make it to see 20 yrs old. It'* pretty bad when you have a girl friend for 6 hours and then give her one of the biggest scares in her life time when you call her from the scene from your phone and tell her that you just crashed your bike because you on your way to her house. I don't want to even fathom what went through her mind, but she'* one of the greatest girls in the world and I'm blessed, privlaged and honored to have her. I too lost my best friend ever in the world in a motorcycle accident.....We were riding together in a staggered formation and I was about 40 feet or so behind him because I was turning my choke off....We were coming to a stop light, our light was green, my buddy made it 5 ft from the cross walk when a drunk driver ran a red light and hit him broad side at an estimated 65 mph and he passed away at the scene.......This was a yr ago tuesday. Not a day goes by where I don't miss Jeremy and realize too that could have been me. I will always remember him, and I will never meet anyone like him either. Every month I go to his place in at the cemetary and put flowers there for him and cry a million tears, but there is nothing I can do. There is so much anger inside me towards the guy that hit him....And there will never be a punishment steep enough or painfull enough for that man who did this. But at least he is in a better place now instead of this twisted world.

Wow...you never realize that it affects someone you "know" through an internet forum. I heard about this on the news and felt really saddened. What a terrible loss.

I dont think the feeling hits you as much as it does with someone so young. Probally the best year of your life too. I still think about how cool it would be to go back to my senior year.
