Rotten day.

Got off work at 2pm (went in early). Went to Home Depot. Got 2x6'* to make ramps up the fence for my 13-year old cat, Griffen. Car started......barely, just like all week. Just had to get Bo and get the failing starter back to the house.

Shoulda left it running when I got Bo.

Got stuck there for over an hour waiting for someone (while I drank their beer) to crank it for me while I beat the starter with a hammer......AFTER I removed the splash shield. You know, the stupid splash shield the SSEi'* don't have. It'* a PITA when you don't have ramps or a jack, and you're wearing fairly nice clothes.

Just got the car home. This is the SECOND time the SLE has stranded me, thank God it wasn't at the coast last weekend.

Now I have two broken cars.

Going out right now to tear the top end off the Zilla and put last year'* top end on so I can work on the intercooler (leaking inside the LIM), and drive that next week.

Starter from Haro for the SLE should be here Mon/Tues.

I might have a car running by tomorrow. Sure hope I have food. Burger King is too far to walk.

There is no Princess. And the Pinhead is avoiding me. I just mowed (while ripping the top half off the Zilla motor).

The stoopid thing is that I never made it home on that last restart, because the last time the car started was at Home Depot, getting stuff to make a ramp for the OTHER cat to get over the fence easier in his 'elder years'.

Bad news gets worse. Pulled the SC, and found rotor coating on top of the IC core. Looks like a couple lobes have lost nearly all of it. I'll be shuffling rotors around in the near future. From my only spare.

Top end is off, going back together tomorrow with last year'* top end. Gotta get one of em running , and I don't feel like playing musical starters.



I'm done for the night. Ordering delivery. Wikoff just beat my PB too, so I'm getting drunk. Read all about it in On the Road and at the Track.

Damn, of all the days to have two broken down cars Bill! That truly is a downer. But yes, as said, definitely good it didn't happen when you were out on the coast with the girls, now that...might have been more than a downer.

Tore down the Zilla'* top last night and called it quits.

Started cleaning up last year'* LIM this morning, and the starter from Haro arrived in the mail. 2 days from MN in a flat-rate box for 8.95. Not bad.

Switched cars, took out the old starter on the SLE about an hour ago. Getting ready to put the new one in, and it just started raining. Figures.

I'm HOPING (rain permitting) to have both cars running today or tomorrow at the latest.
