I stayed away from the Colts and went with a Bushmaster XM15E2. Handles great, shoots fantastic and with an ACOG Tijicon sight it'* dead on.

Three well placed rounds are far better than 15 shot down range wildly!
I still wouldn't shy away from carry as many rounds as possible. Under the stress of an actual shooting you are looking at hitting right around 2 outta 10...

Older Armalites with the improved bolt for me, and not a weapon I would put a sight on. Of course, I've had my share of "practical" experience. For me, this is a "if all hell breaks loose" weapon and ought to kept stripped down and lean. Mine only comes out for dusting and checking operation. I see a few dressed up like their going to the country club dance at the R&G club and laugh, "what ya going to do in the field, if it comes down to that, when fancy items run out of juice". People get these and like to spend money as if they are going to become a member of an elite special forces sniper team. I tell people interested in getting one, make it real, make it for what you need it for. Survival.

I have alot of "for play" items, but this isnt for play, it'* in case for real, really comes.

Again, I have to side with Venom. Uncle Sam'* version is tried and true. Don't booger them up with crap that'll weigh you down if things get real. I know guys that get all fruity with the stuff they have hanging off of the "toys" but when push comes to shove, and you're in the field, most of that stuff becomes dead weight.
