The 2000 Mustang Cobra R is probably the only Ford product I want to own now.
I've seen skidpad test ranging from .99g-1.05g on this car. It might not be as quick as the 2003 SVT Cobra but it would dominate on aroad course.
2000 Cobra R 5.4 ltr n/a
2003 SVT Cobra 4.6 ltr */c
And the Wing:

If this Cobra is a convertable..i'd take it over this GTO any day ..no questions. I'm sorry but i love the exterior styling of those cobras... its sick. The interior isn't too cheap to turn me away..but overall i like it better than the new goats... Truly, i want to like the GTO'* alot better..but if i did stay GM i would definetly spend my money on a corvette , which is hott! ..but more expensive. ..but in the 30-35k range i'd go Cobra easily.

Testing data shows the effectiveness of the splitter and wing in achieving high-speed stability. The combination produces a tenfold reduction in front-end lift, along with a threefold increase in rear downforce. The added drag reduces top speed by less than five mph.

I'm sorry to say but the GTO would lose... I really don't care, I think that they are pretty damn nice cars, and I was just having a discussion with my dad about looking at one in the spring.

The WS6 is a very sick car... I never rode in one, but I have been passed by them on the freeway many a time, and I must say that the rear end looks pretty damn good..

Right there at the top it says "2000 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R"...The pics are further down...
...thank you...thank you....

yes, that 4.6L engine is infact unsupercharged...
oh, and here you can find specs on the engine you keep refering to MN (the car is the 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra not Cobra R)
http://www.edmunds.com/used/2003/for...denav..6.Ford*
I just ran through google, and found out that the 2000 Cobra R was a factory "production" race car (only 300 were made) hell, this thing comes with Borla exhaust stock, not even an option, it'* what you get. and tires that are described by the owner in this review as "stickey as fly paper" to provide 1.02g of lateral grip on a 100 foot skid pad. and a 21 gallon fuel cell, also not an option, stock...
http://www.svtregistry.com/cobra-r/c...er-review.html
So it appears that I was not aware of the production race car, I bow out to your knowledge of Ford production race cars. And MN... that link you provided, it'* to the current generation of the Cobra, not the 2000 version of the Cobra or Cobra R. And in 2000, Ford did NOT make ANY Mustang with a Supercharger, I repeat NO SUPERCHARGER!!! (this I am 100% sure on)

Forgot which magazine it was. One of the Ford ones did a comparison between the '03 Cobra & the Cobra R. The Cobra R was the writter'* pick and barely edged out the '03 Cobra. But for looks, use, & 40 grand cheaper give me the '03 Cobra anyday.
