ok guys so heres my situation:

My SD is on a SOP trip, i have NO issues with this at all key checkin/out thats fine... radio checkin/out again, same.. but my issue lies witht he dress code. yesterday i punched out, was on my way to the backroom to get my coat and stopped in the bathroom to take my shirt off. my SD sees me walking to the back and was like woah woah woah what are you doing? you cant take that off till you leave the building (i had it over my shoulder, so maybe i was in the wrong there), i said oh ok no one said anythign to me about that no problem.

Today after clocking out, red shirt still on, i put my sweatshirt on and was on my way out the front door, perhaps this was a case of bad timing as he had just finished gettin yelled at by a customer but i went to shake his hand and tell him i was on my way out. he fires back with, "you cant wear that in here..." i replied with a semi-confused "wha?" and hes like your sweatshirt you cant wear it in the store... you have to wait UNTIL YOU GET to your car to put it on , that needs to be in your car. For the record, it is a warm 25 degrees outside at that moment. i responded with a "so what you're saying is, i have to freeze my *** off walking out to the car THEN put my sweatshirt on? rediculous." and turned around walking away i hear him say "well you could not work here anymore...." needless to say, i AM not going to be working for this company much longer, especially in a store where you have that kind of interaction.

sory this is so long, i am just cooling off and wanted to put this out there.


EDIT:: i relized i forgot part of my post.. do you think this is proper behavior for my SD? and is this something i am justified in involving HR in?

Any dress code should be clearly written in the employee handbook. Go to HR and ask to view the current policy and discuss this with them.

I can't remember where you work, but what you've described about not being able to put on outter clothing to go out side is ...well... totally rediculous, to be polite.

Actually, he can't say jack about you putting on your jacket. He can ask you politely not to put it on until you're ready to go out the front door, but that'* it. Once you punch out, and are outside any area where protective clothing is required, dress code doesn't mean jack.

SD is what position exactly? Unless he'* the owner or big boss, talk to HIS boss.

HR, but wait until you have camera phone pics of him in the building wearing non-uniform clothing.

I'd tell him I'll wear whatever he wants me to while I'm on the clock, but once I clock out, it'* me time. That is unreasonable to expect you to walk outside without a coat. Does he walk to his car without a coat? Sounds like the kind of stupid policy Wal Mart might try to apply.

Dress code applies to emploeyees only. Which you are not when off the clock.

thats what i said to soemoen i was talkin about this later in the day i also found out that the supervisor i got the # from gave it out to 3 other associates today beacuse of our SD

Exactly why I declined their invitation for employment when they begged me to come work for their Firedog. They actually called my cell phone after getting a reference from several customers and two friends that work there about my work. I let them do their little application process, then said no... no thanks.

I've heard too many stories like this about C-city. But where I work @ Staples, there is one manager that can be like that to the new kids. Not quite that assholeish, but same attitude.

Best Buy ran CC out of business in my town, and Best Buy is commonly known as Worst Buy here.
As far as your troubles, it sounds like you are not alone. Sometimes that'* good. At least he isn't singling you out. Maybe if enough people complain he will get straightened out or set out to pasture.
