Got my Voice over IP phone hooked up today
Cool technology is all I can say.
Since we didn't have regular home phone service yet I decided to go with some "internet phone" service through my broadband. We've been using our cell phones at our apartment and felt for an extra $20 a month we should get this home phone service. So we went with AT&T'* Call Advantage service for broadband. We didn't need long distance (although we can call it for only 4 cents a min) so it was just $19.99 for all the bells and whistles included (caller ID, blah blah blah...). Sure beats 40-60 a month for a regular land-line home phone in this area. Plus our braodband provider'* phone service was only a one-package deal, including long distance, for 40 a month. No thanks. 19.99 suits me just fine for unlimited local calling.

Isn't that the thing where if you are going somewhere for an extended period time, you can take your phone with you and still get phone calls? Like say you were going to go live with a friend for a couple weeks, you could take your phone?

I work on that stuff all the time for a different carrier and for commercial use.
Please post about the sound quality later after you use it a while. I've been real
carefull about it. I guess because I've saw it in its worst days.
If it works ... consistently ... its worth it.
