Default What is hard on a auto transmission and what to avoid????

What is all very hard on a transmission............
I would like these to be rated from 1-10 (10 being hardest)

1 wheel burnouts
cranking the wheel hard and burning out
2 wheel burnouts
downshifting manually to engine brake
upshifting manually (not at proper times)
reverse drops
neutral drops
accidently bumping it into neutral while the cruise is on while going uphill and then putting it back into gear on reaction
using the tranny to hold urself at a stop on a hill
reving engine in neutral while moving

For God'* sake, don't do that!!!! You're whole list is Auto Tranny Killers, but the one'* I left in the quote are all 10'*. The others you may survive, depending on the condition of the tranny, but don't make them a habit.

Just so you know, I do the spinouts on ocaasion, I downshift to slowdown (usually for tailgaters, I love the look on their faces) and I have been known to let the tranny hold me on a hill. But I don't do it all the time.

I don't intend to start a flame war with this question, and I do remember being a kid and beating my car to hell and back, but what is it with you and trying to kill cars, man?? No offense, dude, but if you got that much money to repace dead cars, can I have some??

Like I said, not flaming you, I remember those days myself sorta ( a long, long time ago for me!!), but I had an uncle that traded dead cars for a living, so I had beaters that were only good for destroying. Putting 'em out of their misery as it were.

yeah what he said!

Seriously, I dont think an occasional burnout is going to hurt anything. I have also been guilty of bumping the shifter to neutral when pulling in the driveway and revving the engine a little to tease my little boy and get him to play his little version of "chicken" with me when I get home from work. But that like at 3mph.

I don't think I would try ANY of that stuff that you listed if I really cared about my transmission and if you don't, I will take a 440T4 or a 4T60E if you have one lying around.

Those neutral and reverse drops, are those when you have it in drive, then you get down to anywhere from 2-6 mph then drop it in reverse without stopping all the way?
