Alright. I am trying to make this thing secure, I shut off the SSID broadcast, I think that is a start. My network doesn't show up, so I have to type in the SSID to even find it. You think I should go WEP too? I see how to do it, I just don't understand what it does...

Wep is always good to have imo....and just for kicks our competing computer shop got hacked into last week. Lost Credit card info on all customers and every computer on the network had been wiped clean......they also printed out GET A WEP on their printer....I found it funny....there are a few wardrivers in our parts....most just change the SSID and lock it with some random pass and all you have to do is reset the router and then protect it.

WEP is crackable. I always make sure to setup access lists, so only the MAC addresses I ok, can use the router. You don't even need WEP at that point, or use an invisible SSID Broadcast, so they don't even know it'* there.
My netgear does both, and I love it. Linksys is about the same. A friend bought a D link router, and the WAN port was physically loose, he then got a microsoft, and it bogged when the network in the dorms was saturated with packets.
Stick with G wireless for sure. 802.11A isn't really catching on, but it'* more secure because no one has it.

Alright, I think I am running a B/G mix....but I couldn't tell you if that is even possible.
At the moment I am:
Running WEP
Not broadcasting my SSID
Only my two wireless laptops have ok MAC addresses
Overkill?
