So, I was waiting for Leila to get off work yesterday, and This beauty parked next to me:

IMAG1811.jpg

It looked like it was either an older restoration, or possibly unrestored. It was in a little rough shape, but overall, it was real nice

Last I knew, the Army was the only branch that guaranteed your job. That'* one reason why my brother really didn't like the AF, he bounced around a few different jobs(at the request of the AF) before he landed a cush job at the Pentagon and then retiring.

Going for Crypto Brian?? Well, along with your application, you will be needing to fill this baby out. The dreaded form across all the branches... DOD SF 86-Request for Security Clearance. http://labs.ucop.edu/security/forms/SF86.pdf

I had to get a Secret Clearance for when I got in, 14E-Patriot Missile System.

BTW, your clearance paperwork better be CORRECT. It took mine 4 months to complete. Yours may be longer because I think you may need a Top Secret or higher. If your application is still pending when you graduate basic, you will NOT proceed to school until your clearance is granted.(this may not apply to the AF, but it did with me in the Army)

And when you do get your security clearance, DO NOT GET IT REVOKED!! You will be (bend over) for life.

You have a contract stating you will be an E-3 upon the completion of BMT.

Also, Mike, the AF guarantees jobs before entering. That means you get an AFSC you want, however that AFSC might entail a few things depending on where you're stationed.

Also, security clearance can be pending after Basic, even after Tech School. You are usually granted an Interim Clearance if you need it. Every single person in the AF gets at least a Secret clearance as well.

Weird, I figured it was across all the services if you had to have a clearance for your job that you had to wait as holdover in basic before you could even goto the school. Which is what happened to me.

Brian, is your E-3 based on college?

Nah, because for jobs like that you're usually in the DEP for such a long time that your Security Package has progressed quite a ways already. So, by the time you get to BMT they have a pretty good idea if you'll have your clearance or not and let you go to school. If it still hasn't gone through, then you just go to your first duty station, but you don't get to do your job. You'll get an Interim so that you can get access to use a computer and have email and what not, but you'll pretty much just be the Squadron'* whipping boy.

Also, I didn't have a clearance when I was in school, and didn't need one. We didn't handle anything or have access to any Classified. All of our crypto keys were training keys so they didn't mean anything, and we were always escorted by the instructors when we were in the building that required clearance to be in.

He likes it, but he gets to drive the R/T version which is not in production yet. He had a black one last week with black chrome wheels, and it looked really good IMO.
