House shopping sucks and is fun all at the same time. I'm tired of renting, especially when I can buy a house and pay HALF of the rent amount.

Buying houses is fun! I picked up this one a little while ago. My car is worth way more than what I paid for this house.

buying the house isnt too bad, its the moving that sucks. but paying any amount of rent is not a good investment compared to buying a house

That'* what I said! I think I've FINALLY convinced the GF it'* a good idea.

Considering we pay $700 a month for this: Built in 1950, single pane windows that draft like crazy, front door that we had to rig up a weatherstripping system because the owner did it wrong so light shines around the whole thing, plumbing that'* jacked up in the kitchen and laundry room, a few broken things...all of which of these things the owner REFUSES to fix.

Then, if we were to buy something like this, it'd just make more sense. 3x house for 1/2 the price per month.

pretty decent house, but dont belive what people tell you about the payments taxes and ins and most cant afford a 20% down payment and fees going to be more than what you are paying now, depends on your credit and how bad the taxes are i would guess 7-900 for 30yr.

Well, I just ran the numbers for THAT house. With 0 down, it would be about $800 a month. If we put 20% down, it would be around $650.

I don't have to use PMI either to be able to do $0 down because of the VA home loan.
