That'* why you run the proper cold weather oil. I like to run either 0W-30 or 5W-30.

we dont change our oil often enough up north lol. we only did city driving.... maybe once a year. i change it more here because im in the car alot more, but lauren says memphis rarely sees lower than teens, so its kindof useless. one other thing i thought of, is up north if you dont let your car warm up ive seen people crack blocks.

on another subject, it was just slightly foggy today lol. people in memphis suck at driving in fog. slowest commute ever. im not looking forward to the "snow"

In MO it would get below zero on more than one occasion. I've always ran 5W-30, and no block heater. Never had any problems.

Start the car, let it run for about 3 minutes or so to let the RPMs chill out, and I'm on my way.

no block heaters in indiana cars.... never really understood that. on nights when it got below -20 we would use the dipstick heaters but that was about it. pretty rare that it would ever get that cold so no need to install a freeze plug one.i generally have to wait till the car is semi warm nomatter what, because my stupid climate control wont let me override the fan when its set on defrost so i had to stare at frozen wipers till it warmed up in snowstorms lol.

Hehe. We didn't get that cold very often, sometimes though. Never had any problems. Cars (mine anyway) were always parked outside too.

i have a shelter logic tent garage that has saved me lots of hateful mornings/nights going to my car.. i spend alot of time in my car and i will not leave it outside.. only thing i gotta do is clean off the garage roof when there is heavy snowfall so it doesnt cave in

All this talk about winter and snow makes me glad that I have remote start, and only have to shovel out one parking spot
