We bought my daughter GH2 for her b-day. And I play it on weekends when she isn't home lol. I made it through easy, and medium no problem, but the hard. Pfft! I can't even finish a dang song. My pinky is to little

Anything that gets the kids interested in music outside of dance club / technopop / Disney-channel / "prosti-tot" is AOK in my book.

Santa'* bringing GH III for Xmas...uh, yeah, its' for the kids

Ive played guitar hero on occasion, and I do enjoy playing it, but I also play a real guitar, and although im not the greatest in the world. I will have to say that GH is nothing like the real thing.

GH does serve as good finger exercise, and if you played it a lot it might help to improve your dexterity and coordination.

With that said there a lot of things about playing the real thing that arent reflected in GH.

For example in GH all of your buttons are in a straight line, and the pick is always in the same spot, with the real thing you have to be able to move your fingers vertically as well as horizontally, while making sure your pick is in the right position.

Also the margin for error is much smaller on a real guitar, the buttons themselves arent as wide as most of the frets on a guitar, but they are considerably larger vertically, and much easier to "grab" than a real string.

Also for the most part you have to use the tips of your fingers when playing the real thing, where with GH you could conceivably use you whole finger if you wanted too.

Just some of the observations Ive made while playing.

Very well put. Don't forget BAR CHORDS! Omg. I can play them, but transitioning between bar and standard chords takes me like 30 seconds... I need more practice.

Ah yes, how could I forget those accursed things.

That would be especially applicable for playing the "rhythm" portion of GH, which for a lot of songs is mostly barre chords.

I bet I could play them decently on an electric guitar but I still havent bought one yet, playing them on an acoustic sucks, especially when you have smallish, weak hands, like me! I can get the positioning down most of the time, but I hear alot of buzzing or dead strings because I cant put enough power down to the strings.

But at any rate, the GH series is great from what little Ive seen of them. It is my humble opinion that a real guitar player might have an easier time of playing GH, not the other way around.
