Weather you Black, Mexican, Indian, White, or what ever.. If you Cant speak English in the USA or your lazy or stupid or just can communicate with the average American. That is what this Whole thread is about in my mind.

I get really pissed at the the F'ing NYS workers that cant speak or understand English worth a Dam and they make more $ then me and im helping there *** do there job.

I cant stand that the fact the only reason they got there job is because they are not White and dont speak English well. But for someone like me that telling them how to or helping them do there 40, 50, 60K a year job it really Tics me off

SSEi93 Do not take stuff like this personal. When blacks and Mexicans make fun of or put the White hippy'*, trailer trash or what ever down i go.. "hey thats not me, im not like that" so who the Heck cares.
If you work hard, pay your taxes, speak and write English ok then i know i dont give a crap what color or Race you are.

hey i have see some really F'ing dumb and a55hole Black people. Did i make fun of them? Yes. do i make black jokes about those types of people Yes.

But on the on other hand i have some really good Black friends and co-worked that are really cool and smart. and guess what? they make fun of those type of black people also.

And im not racist, but i am part of a minority that is a victim of racism. And im sorry if this offends you, but remeber, it offended me years ago.

I'm pretty sure that America hasn't established a mandatory language yet (though citizens must learn English); so you can complain all you want, but no one is required to learn English to be in this country. (I literally don't know if this is true, so correct me if I'm wrong.)

IMO making fun of accents is NOT racist. It'* not like people can help it, I have a California accent that confuses people in the south when I visit family. In Germany, my terrible accent made it hard for people to understand my German, and certain Germans were hard to understand with their accents. I don't think insinuating that it'* annoying to deal with communication barriers makes you a racist, and living in Southern California I deal with Mexicans with heavy accents or little understanding of English constantly. I do find it annoying if they don't speak any English and expect me to understand them easily or get mad at me for not understanding, but I always respect when they try, and will do all I can to make the process easier.

PS: Germans made fun of me for my accent, I took it light heartedly, as they were only joking and helped me advance my German speech. I didn't see it as racist or elitist.

bandit: When you start using the proper words (whether vs. weather), I'll start taking your complaints about people not speaking English seriously.

chevyboy: I think what you're saying is more racist than anything else. Mexicans do not do manual labor because they're Mexicans and whites choose not to do so. I'm sure you get paid for your job, which is why you chose to take it. Not all white people work in an office chair, and not all Mexicans work in a field. And I know a lot of Americans don't speak Spanish when they go to Mexico, but the amount of English only speaking Americans doesn't compare to the amount of Spanish only speakers living in America.

SSEi93, this topic din'thave a problem until you mouthed off.

So you're mexican? Big deal. That'* not what this topic is about. I don't recall reading that anyone hated mexicans. I recall reading he'* frustrated when people can't speak intelligble english.

Do you speak English? Yes? Then this wasn't an insult to you, was it? If the shoe fits, wear it.

My personal opinion is two-fold:

1. I think it'* a common courtesy and a show of pride if a foreign-speaking person actually takes the time to learn the native language. Not only does it benefit YOU, but it benefits EVERYONE with a show of mutual respect and understanding.

2. I want rotary-dial phones to come back so I don't have to press 1 to continue in English.

SSEi93, it'* your EXACT attitude that causes problems in topics like this. I could care less what color ANYONE'* skin is. This is a rant about LANGUAGE. Not race. Don't twist it into the civil rights movement.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do I live in Mexico? Ummmmm.....NO. I have visited there, but if I planned to live there, I'd improve my spanish, I can assure you of that.

I could car less AGAIN what a MEXICAN does. This isn't about RACE. It'* about people learning the Native language of the country they choose to live in, whether it be legally or not.

SSEi93 and Chevyboy, you can chill your heels starting right now. Nobody assaulted you or your race in this topic, but somehow I believe you'll be blind to that logic, so neither of you are welcome to post in this topic any more. That'* not a REQUEST, either.

Last time I checked, the topic title was:

Getting Tired of Mexicans Not Speaking English. (work rant!)
Both of you are apparently Mexican. But the last time I checked, I got the impression that you both speak pretty good english, so WHAT'* YOUR ISSUE? This obviously isn't directed at you is it? Don't take it personally, and don't post in this one again.

I pretty much agree with you, and also note that a major part of moving to a different country is becoming a part of the national culture. I don't mean you have to be an American first, but that you have to acknowledge the culture you are now a part of. It'* rude to move to a different country and not even acknowledge the common language. Like I said, I respect people attempting to speak English. I don't respect people that speak to me in foreign languages and get made when I don't understand what it is they're pointing at on a sign with 50 different things.

SSEI93, let me address your specific concerns from page 1 that are directed at me personally.

#1. I don't LIVE HERE. I don't have the luxury of reading every single topic. If you think I have some god-forsaken responsibility to control everything, let'* see you donate towards my pay. You think I'm just sitting here waiting for someone to post some **** so I can jump their ****? Wow. Such high expectations.

#2. Your **** gets locked because you can't seem to read the Forum descriptions. It'* not personal, it'* just the method we have to resort to to open some people'* eyes.

#3 Since you can't post in this topic any longer, feel free to PM me with any concerns you have about my comments. And before you accuse me of being a RACIST, maybe you should discuss this issue with my very good friend and co-Admin, jr's3800 who just happens to be JAPANESE-AMERICAN. Nobody EVER accuses me of being a racist.

Every race has lazy people, loud people, annoying people, thieving people, smart people, dumb people, jerks, nerds, fatties, scrawnies, trashies, and even stereotypical people. Some get so pissed off about stereotypes. But they do exist for a reason whether you like it or not. I'm not saying every foreigner can't drive or understand simple english, every black man steals and eats watermelon, every mexican mows someone elses lawn all day long, or every asian kid is good at math. I'm just saying there is enough of any ethnicity that act a certain way that it becomes perceived as a relatively common trait to that group. "White dudes can't dance" didn't arise because each and every one actually can dance well, if you get my drift. Hell, I can't dance. Does that keep me from trying? Hell yes it does. But I could dunk in college, so suck on that Spike Lee. I've been accused of being stupid, fat, too smart, skinny, awkward, pompas, country, uppity, lanky, pussified, arrogant, annoying, weird, too normal, criminal, bad driver, cold hearted, typical frat boy, typical farm boy, typical white boy, typical boy, untrustworthy, too straight-laced, juvenile delinquent, cheater, liar, ... everything. Some of it is not true, some of it is.

Have I toiled in corn fields all day long in the hot sun side by side with Mexicans with work visas that couldn't understand me and vice versa? Yes, I did for 4 summers. I now work with some middle eastern engineers daily. We've got communication barriers, sure. It makes some things difficult. I also work with some that speak with no accent at all, but are here on work visas. I frequently find that the people that speak the most proper english, including americans, are foreign and learned it in their native countries.

IMO, I don't think stereotypical comments are racist. They are just exagerated generalizations and should be treated as such.

If you are born in America, your an American and are supposed to be taught english in school. If you immigrate to America, your supposed to learn english as one of your parts to becoming a citizen. In the "old" days this wasn't a problem. People came here to become Americans. People still immigrate here and do it the right way, but there is a movement to come here, but not become American. This is very dangerous to our culture.
