Trying to find me a Factory Service Manual for the car, because if I get it I want to have one on hand for sure.
All I can find is Haynes and Chilton'* though...

Going to look at, and possibly buy the 3005 Champagne Grand Prix GTP tomorrow.
I am more familiar with the Series II 3800'*, I know with the NA version of the 3800 II they went with aluminum upper intakes, but on the SC version did they install aluminum framed gaskets?
If not maybe I can get the seller to knock of a little more, because I would have to change out the LIM Gasket right away if it is plastic framed..

Any other issues the 3800 III SC versions have?
I'll most likely give it a full tune up, plugs, wires, oil change, air filter..
Luckily the oil filters are the same on the 3800 III SC and the 3800 II NA, I already have an over-sized filter to out on it, and some Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil.

Hmmm, does the 2005 GTP'* have the air cabin filter?

Can anybody find me a FSM for sale for this car?
If not I guess a Chilton will have to do, I'd much rather have a FSM though...

3 on ebay:

2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Original Workshop Shop Service Repair Manual Set 1 3 | eBay $213
2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Service Shop Repair Workshop Manual Set Factory | eBay $299
2005 Pontiac Grand Prix Service Shop Repair Manual Set Factory w Trans Unit Book | eBay $599

I would sure love to take a hit off of whatever they are smoking.

Just give it some time, maybe even save an ebay search so that they email search results to you regularly as things pop up. They should pop up at some point hopefully.

William, what is your time frame and needs to buy now? Seems to me if you have time you can find a one owner clean vehicle for 2k less than the GPs you have listed.

I recently bought (in VA of all places) a 2005 Bonneville SLE with 140k miles, two owners, first owner a female in Florida, second owner a family in VA, for $2800 from a new Honda dealer. I had to replace the LIM, but everything else was very good. Perfect interior, only cosmetic exterior issues. Spotless Carfax.

Doing some searching this morning I saw a 2009 GP with 88k miles for $4500 OBO, I would pass on it simply because the car is from Illinois, and GMs don't do well with salt on the roads over time. Here is a abused GP I would pass on, but I bet 3k cash offer gets the car Pontiac Grand Prix 4DR SDN GTP | eBay .

I really only have a month or two max that I can wait, because I am running out of money, and need to get a reliable car so I can go ahead and get a job.
I have looked over many cars, and quite a few Grand Prix'* over the last month, I have tried every site I can think of to find them, and so far for a decent mileage one with a Supercharger has been around the same price as what I have found.
I have seen Grand Prix Base Models for around 5k or so..

That blue one does look nice, but I really am limited to about a 75 mile radius from where I live, as my brother won't be able to go with me any further to look at one, and I need him to drive one home if I get one.

I am on my way down to look ate the one for 6,800.00 today, and due it me not being able to travel far to get one, and the fact that I only have 2 cars I can lookup on Carfax left, I am leaning towards getting it if it looks as good as it does in the pics.
If I notice any issues I'll ask for a little more off, if they don't go for it I may walk, but it really is the best I have found for the money around here.
I could get the 2006 GT with SC, but it has 144k miles on it, and I really want to get under 100k..

William,

I have a unlimited autocheck subscription. Let me know if you need something run. Doing carfax/ autocheck prior to viewing a car is awesome.

If you need a car just to have transportation to work- pm me.

Thanks Mike, if I find any other possible candidates to be my next car I'll get you to help me look them up.
I went to see the 2005 GTP and it was horrible, the headlights were so bad they'd need to be replaced, no buffing in the world would have made them better, not for long anyway.
It had a lot of paint chips, a few I can get, but it had more than a few.
The steering had a funny feel to it, either bad knuckle, or tie rods.
All four rotors looked like they needed replacing, even though it "passed an inspection".
You could tell the motor had leaked a lil coolant before they cleaned it, and caused that white powdery corrosion or whatever to start all over.
Looked like the coolant elbow to me, I also noticed a little oil on the LIM, which I thought in 2005 they started getting aluminum framed LIM gaskets, maybe this one missed out on getting them.
The passenger side had a scratch and dent at the very lower part of the car door, it stretched almost the entire lower part of the door.
The Key FOB did not work, the tire pressure sensor warning was on.
There were signs of water damage around the inside interior lights, looked to have came from a leaky sunroof.
Top right corner of driver side door trim was bent out my half an inch or more.
Both trunk corners were bent upwards quite a bit, I noticed when opening the trunk that they had disconnected the shock things that hold it open, and one was bent pretty badly.
There were signs that the bumper in the rear had been removed.
It had a little shimmying to it when braking..
It felt like all four struts were bad, upper strut mounts on the front were rusted, it handled bumps like ****.
Only thing it had going for it was the get up, when you hit the gas it would move, loved the Supercharger.
The guy came down from 7,000.00 to 6,500.00 but I had to walk away, it needed more done to it then my 96' Park Ave...
I'd have went maybe 4.500.00 tops, it was not worth much more than that.

So now I am back to considering the 2006 Black GT with SC for 5k, or trying to get a body shop to inspect the Chrysler 200 I like, if it'* unibody is good I'd give them 8k for it, it has 63k miles, and is a 2012..

I can probably get a little more time out of my PA, if I out a little time into it, I have to fix the leaks if I keep using it though..
I can hold out another month or so, but if I don't find something soon I'll have to put a little more into my PA..
Even my brother said my PA drove way better than that Grand Prix, he said it rode as well as his 2014 SUV..
