Default Getting a Grand Prix, need advice.

As some of you know I decided not to get a 4x4, and I am sure now I want a Pontiac Grand Prix GT or GTP, I want that Supercharger!
I have two cars I have my eye on, I have checked the Carfax on the Black 2006 GT with 143,200 miles on it, and all I see if the ignition switch recall, I can get GM to take care of that though.
This Black one looks good, has nice tires.
I can get this one for 5,000.00
2006 Pontiac Grand Prix GT (Supercharged)

The other is not my fav color Black, but it looks good, it is a 2005 GTP, it has 80,023 miles, but is at 7,000.00, I could possibly get the place to take 6,500.00
2000 Pontiac Grand Prix For Sale in Moneta, VA - CarGurus

I am confused with the Black one listed as a GT with a Supercharger, I thought the GT'* were naturally aspirated, and the GTP'* the supercharged versions?

I need to go see one of these on Friday, so I need advice ASAP.
If I can talk the 2005 seller down to 6,500 do you guys think 1,500.00 would be worth it for 60,000 less miles?
I am thinking yes, but I love the look of that Black GT...
If the GTP was Black I'd not even ask for advice, I'd own it Friday, lol

Just checked the Carfax for the GTP, looks clean, there was 3 owners, and it did start out as a rental car, but only for the first 21k miles.
Second owner had it for 24k, last owner for like 40k.
No recalls on it, no accidents, had ok maintenance records.

I am still upset about the guys lying to me about that Chrysler 200, telling me no accidents, when it had listed structural damage that they were notified of...
I need to hurry up and find a local GT with SC or GTP, as I only have 2 Carfax reports left.

I've been up all night so time for bed, but that 05 looks really clean and has lower miles.
Also black will show swirls scratches easier than the 05'* color, which hides stuff very well.

Well damn, I may have to forget about the GTP, even though it has less miles and that makes me happy..
I noticed it is actually almost 3 hours away, and my brothers wife already said he is not going if it is that far away.
I don't think he cares, but he has to live with her, sigh.....

Wait, 1hr 45 mins from my brothers, she may go for that.

Same here Art, you know how I stay up, lol
Sleepy time for me, night night my friend!

If I can get it for 6,500 cash, and my bro will go with me down there, then I think I will go for the 2005 with better miles, unless somebody has a good reason to go for the 2006 Black GT.

Just me, but I would go with the lower mileage Grand Prix even tho it'* not SC and your favorite color. It will save you money in the long run, e.g. trans, suspension components, wheel hubs and the list goes on. That said I would bite the bullet and pay a local mech to put the car on a lift and do a thorough inspection before you sign on the line.

Oh the lower mileage one does have a SC, it was actually supposed to have one, the GT has one also, the confusion I had was that I thought mostly all GT'* were NA, and not SC.
I would like to have a local mechanic put it on a lift and look it over, but I'll be driving 1hr 45mins away to go look at it, and while I could find a mechanic there, I do not know any of them..
I will also be pressed for time while down there, as if I do get it I need my brother to drive one of the cars back for me, and he won't be able to be down there for too long.
Do most dealerships let you take it to a local mechanic if you are willing to pay to have it looked over?

Talked to the dealer that has the Champagne 2005 Grand Prix listed, he is selling it for a guy he knows, so he called him up and the guy agreed to go 200.00 lower, so at what I planned to spend if I got it, I'd only go over by around 120.00
Now I have to see if my bank can give me the cash needed to buy the vehicle, I can use my debit card, but that will add a 2% fee on to the price, so like 136.00 more..

Call and tell the dealership it will be a deal breaker if they don't allow you to take it in for an independent inspection, as far as finding a mech to put it on a lift and look everything under and over, the internet is your friend, zip code and look for a family owned garage that has been in business for many years, i.e. grey beards that have good reviews.

I had the same confusion about the GT vs GTP vs NA vs SC. According to Wikipedia it was a switch that happened starting in 2006, where the GTP plate was moved to the G6, the GT got a supercharger, etc. I do like the looks of the 05, but I think it'* mainly because the color is dull and unexciting, which shifts the car from looking hot to subdued, which is great for the sleeper mentality in me.
