Computer
Ok all you computer people I need your help badly! I am on a hunt for a new computer due to the one I have now is SO old and SO slow! Now I don't know if I want Vista or XP yet ( really don't know much about Vista so if anyone can give me some lecture that be great! )
Now I really don't game much on computers..I mean there is one game I play once in awhile but I really haven't been out there to see the games they have..
Basicaully I will be using the computer for : AIM, Email, Downloading music, Forum(*), homework (excel, word, etc.), maybe a game not to sure, and possibly photoshop I really want to do that!
Now I'm not trying to spend the $1000 price tag on this computer..I've seen some really good ones for $649 and all which isnt bad in price..Just to give a idea on how much I'm looking for..
Also I DON'T want DELL...
If you guys could either show me some computers that you think will be great for my needs that would be good, or maybe just the brand and what I should look at in gb and all that..
Just to give a idea I've been looking on newegg lately but don't know yet..

If you're looking for a desktop package (new monitor, peripherals, etc) I wouldn't go through newegg, just from personal experience. I've had great experience ordering through HP.com or finding good deals at stores such as Costco.

What about emachines...are they good?
I saw one and this is all about it
AMD Sempron Processor LE-1250 COmputer with 17"LCD widescreen monitor and it comes with a cacn color printer..
Includes: Windows Vista home basic with service pack 1, 1GB DDR2 memory, 160GB hard drive, read and writes dula layer DVD and CDs, nVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics
Does that sound good? Or to small of memory and all?

Emachines ARE slightly better than what they used to be, but I wouldn't buy one personally without getting a good warranty. Plus, the Sempron processor is not a performer by any means, similar to a Celeron. Keep looking. Personally I recommend HP, Compaq, Lenovo, or Systemax PC wise. I am now a Mac user, so I don't know of the current processors or anything on PCs.

I have (or had) an emachines, but almost every part has been replaced on it (come to think of it, it'* pretty much a brand new computer). They're slow and they use old technology. Do yourself a favor and buy a nice computer. It'll last you a LOT longer

Yea I was just thinking to myself that emachines have to be junk cause my dad uses them for his work, but throws them away every 2 years ( ownes pool store, no point on getting a good comp cause the chlorine in air just tears them apart )
I've been looking at HP'* thats mostly what I was thinking about getting...but was just starting to think of maybe just getting a mac..
