Default WELL...

I guess I want be spending much time here for a while. People at work have retired , fired and some are out sick so I'm being set up to the Chip Dozer. I'll probably be set up a couple weeks until my cousins back gets better (they're very rough riding machines). So the only time I'll be online is here on my slow computer at home when I'm tired and ready to go to bed.

This is one of ours when the company was rebuilding it after a fire at another mill. The impeller on the turbo shattered and we ended up running it out of oil and locking the motor up on the way to the garage last week. You should have seen the smoke and fire from the stack. The engine cost $40,000 USD and the whole machine cost more than 1/2 million dollars

The tires are slightly over 6 feet tall

Yeah our chipper (the disc) is about 8-9 foot in diameter with 12 knives that are 3 1/2 feet long and 3/4 inch thick and razor sharp. I've seen it chew up 80 foot pine trees that the slasher saw missed (they try to cut them into 8-16 foot sections) in seconds.

This is similar to our but not really. I'll have to sneak my camera back in and get some pictures and more video of the chipper.

The picture didn't work so use this link:

METSO

Our chipper is a Murray Drop Chipper (wood drops down about 20 feet from the speed up rolls) but Metso bought them out.
I have a video of wood going in the chipper and the chip dozers on the piles:
