My grandma and grandpa live about a block away from us. We live in a nice little neighborhood, right outside of the city limits. They are country folk, but they moved into the city so they could be closer to us because they are getting old, and need someone close by to take care of them. The house they bought has a nice big yard where they like to relax and look at there flower garden and stuff. Well about 5 months ago, the house next door to them finally had someone move in (it had been empty since my grandparents moved in) A couple moved in that had a little baby. Well the backyard of the neighbors isn't too big but its big enough. But they decided to put all of their kids toys (swing set, sandbox etc.) right next to the chain link fence dividing the two yards. Well my grandparents like there privacy so they put up a privacy fence. It is a nice fence it doesn't look horrible. Well the couple that lives next door is mixed race (shes white, hes black) my grandparents don't care about that, but he decided to come over to my grandparents house and complain about the fence and he started saying they put it up just because they are interracial. :? Now they are all pissed at my grandparents because they think they are racist, when they're not. And they've told other people they are racist. Why, does crap like that always have to come up? They put the fence up because they like privacy not because they are racist. My grandparents have tried talking to them but they wont listen because they think there racist.
Don't get me wrong here i'm not racist at all, i just can't stand seeing my poor grandparents get accused of being something they aren't.

Some people are just dumb like that, all races suffer from that. Me being black, I just asked that you and your grandparents don't think we all are like that (you were a pretty cool person from the meet so I know you don't think that ). Just so this don't turn into a heated race topic my main point is that stupidity doesn't look at color.

Sadly enough in this day in age some people just automatically assume its about color, especially when it'* not. And it'* not just black people, it'* white people, mexican people, it'* every race. I'm white and I don't act like I'm better than other people because of it. I don't know, this can be a touchy subject. Maybe tell your grandparents to send them a nice letter explaining the reasoning behind the fence, and a cake or something. It may work.

The real question is, why would someone automatically jump to that conclusion... heck, maybe you're grandparents really put up the fence so they wouldn't have to stare at an ugly kid... lol j/k. Seriously though, sounds to me like maybe the couple got a lot of flack from a lot of other people about their mix, so they just assume everyone does things for that reason.

Just by the by, while I wouldn't even bother with taking such a trivial thing to court, telling other people that your grandparents are racist is still slander, and they should be notified of the legal consequences of such. Just my .02

The 'race' card is often played first now as it usually gets people "their way" without further problems. Tell these idiots the truth; that the fence got put up because they're slobs and your grandparents don't care to look at the mess.

The "race card" is ugly i agree. Personally ... If you're an &*( then you're and &*( I don't care what color you are.

On a side note... I know some people.. would you like their house raided ???? :o

Your grandparents don't owe anyone an explanation. Its thier property, they can put up all the fence they want. The neighbors are the one with the problem. They chose not to believe the reason.
