Default Fuel Mileage Writeup

Warm air getting better mileage than cold air? In my thinking...lets say you're idling. Say 800 RPMs. Now you're pulling in a constant amount of air at this given RPM, now the engine has to monitor that air flow and temperature in order to give the engine the right amount of fuel...so lets say cold air...its denser, meaning you now have to add MORE fuel to DENSER air in order for it to burn correctly...but that would raise the idle speed...so in my mind, this would mean that now the engine would be able to idle at a LOWER constant speed...say 600 rpms...pulling in less air and adding the same amount of fuel or less...being more EFFICIENT. So now to me this would mean, at a higher RPM, say 2 grand, you'd pull in this dense air, and add fuel to it...and now get more POWER from the same RPM, therefore getting better mileage from not having to raise RPMs. So based on this theory of mine of how it works, this would mean that driving in colder air would increase efficiency, going against everything this guy is saying Its been my thought that if you add a CAI/FWI, you bring in cooler air, getting more power and better fuel mileage. Eh?

This guy has lost it. I dont know if he really has the ability to see any view other than his own thats why everybody is out to cost you MPG. There are reasons why everyone does things the way they do and not the way he thinks they should.

And when he attacks my beloved army he really lost my respect. There are whole other factors to what the army does compared to civilian use.

his reasoning to use synthetic ATF instead of dino wasn't quite rational (so i think), that it decreases heat which prolongs the life of the tranny. actually quite a bit of the stuff wasn't reasoned out rationally

From What i read out of all that.

Ok say he does end up getting AWESOME milieage what ever it be. WELL thast great and all but all the money hes spending to do it im SURE does NOT equal out. you would be spending way more money on all these things he wants to do then jsut leaving the car as a gas hog. replacing the 02 senser its self all the time.......? How often does he change this dang tihng. and theres two of them. normally its 100,000 you change it. so says the factory and to change them both thats $180 FOR THE CHEAP STUFF

and you do NOT have to uses the same station and the same pump to get accuate AVG. MPG. as we all know the tanks at the station are refilled atleast once a week and who says its exacly the same everytime

and its also been proven that "cheaper" gas its not any better/or worse then the more expensive gas. not saying different octaines. just different stations. how they say oh the cheaper stations have more water in the gas. this may be true but its not enough to make any noticable difference.

and complaning aobut why the Government not doing anyting about the gas blah blah blah what ever he was saying. is obviously pointless. it doesnt matter whos in control and what they say and promise. MONEY WILL ALWAYS BE IN POWER!!!!!!!

ok im done i think

im just saying im not going to put spend the that kind of money each oil change, fill up and what ever else. just to get may another 10 miles to a tank. the cost of that 10 miles that i lost does not equal out to what i have spent trying to gain it.

if you think im out of line or completly wrong let me know.

we ALL want better mileage but is all this really worth it?????????????
