x-ford owners need some info thanks
Well my temp gauge in my 1995 Ford Contour is broken and I was wondering what happens if it overheats.......will a light pop up or not but the engine seems to run extremely hot after like 20 mins of driving and you pull the dip-stick out to check it it smokes hardcore from there plus if you touch ne of the dipstick metal part it burns your hand so amazing bad (alot worse than any car i have ever owned) radiator is kinda hard to get at its like under the front part of the body its poop fan comes on alot but is there any safty things the engine will do to prevent it from overheating and braking down? Like I just remebered how my moms 1999 olds intrigue 3.5 dohc v-6 does some weird limp home feature its called......dunno about ford tho
BTW i apologize posting this in the lounge its just that I really need to know this stuff and you have no ford posting sections :?

A check engine light should come on, then start flashing. Or some have a little light that is a temp warning. Liquids get hot really fast, and 20 minutes is enough to burn your hand. Think about driving to a garage that is only 5 miles away and then change your oil in your car? It gets pretty warm, doesnt it! Just remember dont pop off the radiator cap when its still warm! Very unpleasant feeling. Proabably the safest thing to do is get it flushed and have it inspected and repaired. It could use a new radiator maybe.

Ok. Sell it. Buy a used 12 speed bike. Save up some money, then buy something more reliable instead of dumping more money into cars that let you down. Yea, i know how you feel bro. When i was 17 i had a 92 Taurus. After about an hour of driving it would start to overheat. Its kinda funny, the POS that it was, the only thing that gave out was the motor mounts for the two years i had it.

Remember, you get what you pay for. That little car did pretty good for what you paid, but it'* probably time to bite the bullet and spring for a car that'* gonna last.
If you want something lo- maint, buy a H*nda, not a lot of personality, but they last forever.
Of course, you could get another F*rd POS and milk it for a while.

Get a Ford truck. You can get old f-150'* and they will last longer then most new cars. Crown Vics are another one that can find cheap but last a long time. Every car has its downfalls so dont try to base judgement on that
