Found my internship
This thread is half-Bonneville related, but I'm not 100% committed right as of yet, so in the Lounge I'll put it.
Just got hired for a co-op job doing $14-16/hr (unfinalized), 40 hours a week doing Quality Assurance at a commercial cooking equipment manufacturing place (read: lots of stainless steel) for 14 or 15 weeks as part of my Mechanical Technologist program at school.
Out of poor student mode for a while... out of public transport and back to Bonneville... shopping time

As you can see my price range (after haggling) is going to be about $3k CAD. Now I know there will be some parental objection to me having anything more than four cylinders, but Bonneville insurance is rather on the cheap so it'll offset the fuel savings... my money, my choice of car I figure. FWIW currently a 1991 Civic hatchback costs my dad $200 more a year to insure than the 91 SSE, though it does 32mpg city.

good thinking
having an Ei should not affect your insurance in anyway vs a n/a........at least thats the way it is when i called 3 different insurance companies before I got my car.

Congrats Jerry, that'* great, you're on a roll now. As for the choices, I think the 96 SSE will give you a better chance to haggle since it'* private, but then you never know. I would narrow it down to around 2 to 3 cars, this way you won't have a problem walking away if they don't accept your offer. I do like the colour of the 98 though. Keep us posted.

thanks guys.
For the right price
The extra cost for that good ol' 91+ octane would limit my budget a bit. That and my right foot will make the gas gauge drop quicker than a dress on prom night
Right now I just want an A to B car that *isn't* going to be boring/small, so boost isn't a requirement... yet As well, the only truly cheap Ei is going for $1200, has 360,000km, and is in Peterborough.
