i have heard of this frequently (a friend of mines brother is brewmaster at anderson valley brewing co in CA)
I find it interesting that all of the places that i shop for home brewing ingredients have had no significant increase in pricing in the last year

I have a friend that brews his own. Pretty good stuff. It'* not hard to do, from the sounds of it. The article says that'* cheaper than buying it, and I'd believe it.

For me, using a kit, it costs about $15 for 5 dozen. That includes the price of caps, corn sugar, and the kit.
If was to use base ingredients and actually do some work to make the beer I could probably half the price.
Store bought beer in my area costs about $24 a dozen. I don't buy much store bought beer.
