I'm a little slow on this, but this is BIG news for all Mac fans. Apple released, well, quite a while ago, that they are whipping up a new OS... Lion. I dunno why, but I think Apple is obsessed with big cats... http://www.apple.com/macosx/lion/ If you wanna watch the 90 min keynote, like I did, have at it, there'* a whole lot more info there. I want some feedback from all you Mac fans (you know who you are)! I'm sooooooo excited!

Me too. I know I'll be upgrading on launch day.

Snow Leopard must have made the marketing team at Apple cringe, as they promised virtually no new features in favor of a massive under-the-hood overhaul. (It paid off, too. I upgraded the day it came out and my 3-year-old laptop took off screaming!)

Now, they're getting back to working on new features, some held over from SL'* development and some inspired by the iPhone and iPad. Even though my old laptop doesn't do three- or four-finger multitouch, I'll still be scratching the itch and upgrading to Lion when it comes out.

BTW, the Mac App Store will be coming in January; we won't need to wait until Lion for that. I don't see myself using it too much, but still interesting to see if it proves to be as popular as its iPhone cousin.

Apple'* always been a little catty with Mac OS X codenames. Eventually, they started using them in public, probably because Jaguar, Panther, Tiger are more catchy than 10.2, 10.3, 10.4.

Bear in mind that with Lion now used, Apple is left with only two more big cats (lynx and cougar) before they'll have to figure out a new naming scheme.

I think they would get sued for Lynx. Just to close to another OS platform, What good is new OS if you don't adequately provide apps for existing ones. Shame to see it dwindle into obscurity. Good OS with none responsible or responsive to drive it to achieve what it could have been. As net phones gain more a share of the traffic market and take away the niche I Phone monopolized. Mac is falling on it'* face.

The market is driving new applications. Apple OS has seen double digit growth over the past few years and now have an estimated 12% of the market. Microsoft saw the threat and has made an Office Suite available for the OSX system. More programs are on the horizon as well. I'm a convert!

If the apps are going to go the way I think, I think that CD Games for Mac are gonna go bye-bye. So I have a question, can you buy the iWork and iLife suites on a CD anymore? I just dunno how the whole Mission Control is gonna work. So would you all wait 'till summer to get a new Mac, or do it now, because god knows that they're gonna beef everything up under the hood when it comes out. I have a PC now, and not having a Mac is KILLING me. Did yall watch the keynote?

Apple has said that, unlike on iOS, using the Mac App Store will be optional; that is, they will continue to let developers release software the same way they have been doing.

Yes, iLife and iWork are still available on DVD. They will also be on the Mac App Store at launch, and will continue to be pre-installed on all new Macs.

Then... Why not just download the app? You can use it on all your authorized Macs! Oh, yeah, I really wonder what they're gonna do when they get to OSX 10.9.

While most of these advantages will help the less computer-literate, automatic updates are a killer feature that we all can enjoy.

And those Apple figures are degrading, not improving. Soon Android will beat out Mac as it'* increase is sure, steady, and right now being fertilized with Win7.

And I Phone? The once mobile Champ? It'* in a corner licking it'* wounds. The monopoly is over and just like it'* Big Brother, availibility of apps and specifically not easy to find free apps is nailing the coffin lid.

Now they are on a pathetic trend to make Windows play nice in a cell/browser contest they say isn't fair. Whats FAIR is that you provide the best you can, be a Man about it, and let people choose. Not make the Gov step in cause your lame and can't take a share by your own deeds. The whole thing makes for a bitter apple to bite into.

That'* what I'm saying! Isn't the FaceTime just Skyping one another? Like an iPhone/iPod Touch compatible version of iChat?I wonder how much it'll cost to upgrade OS'*, 'cuz I remember last time it was like $20, right?
