Some lady hits my car...
I hate idiots, especially idiots that smile at me and walk away...
I pulled into the hospital parking lot like 20min early for my apointment so I figured I'd hang out in the parking lot for a little bit before I had to go in. It was early and not many people were there but I parked like 5 spaces from the nearest car anyway.
I wasen't even there for 5min when some lady whips her green Toyota Rav into the spot next to me. Parking like an asshat she left herself no room to get out. I knew what was next and sure enough when she opened her door I hear a "BANG" as it slaps the side mirror.
It didn't sound too bad, I didn't feel like chewing some lady out at 7am, and I knew the paint was pretty resilient so I shot her a very clear "You dumb b****" look as she looked back at me with a dumb "oopsies" smile on her face. She walked off and I got out about 10min later and checked it on my way in.
AHHH!!!! Scratched the hell out of my side mirror and its not buffing out! I was soooo pissed off I immediately grabbed a piece of paper and wrote:
"You scratched my paint with your door! I expect compensation. I know it won't be much but I don't feel I should have to pay for your mistake. Thank you"
Signed with my name and phone number.
Funny but I'm so F'n tired of idiots not thinking before they get out of their car. If I park close to someone I reach out and put my hand between my door and their car. Its called "respect" and I'd expect the same from any asshat that parks next to me. I'm tired of idiots that think "oh well, its a small scratch" and just walk off.
In anycase I didn't have the phone with me but I got a message sometime this afternoon from her husband (lady in 30'* looked like) talking about "I understand you're looking for compensation, I'll call back later." I'm taking the car to get an estimate tomorrow. I've never dealt with this but I couldn't figure more than like $30 to have a pro do it.
Thus is my drama...

Hopefully they will fix it no problems. It can't be much to fix, but still, she did it, it should be fixed at her cost.

Instead of giving the look, i'd have given the words! dude if someone hit my car, i'd be so pissed. Even if my paint is in such crappy condition, I don't care, its the lack of respect that really gets to me!

Oh, that'* a bummer. I know what you mean about not making a deal out of it if there isn't really any damage. I hope you get something out of it though.

I understand the lack of respect thing being irritating but i'm sure she had other things on her mind (maybe more important than worrying about a car). Maybe her child was in the hospital or something and she was in a hurry. Things like this happen, its a way of life. Getting bent out of shape over a scratch is not the best way to increase your blood pressure....as long as you get compensation and it gets fixed then no biggie. It'* not like she pulled out a gun and shot you and left you bleeding in the street.

Rogue offers good advice. I agree that she was rude to do the damage and just walk away. At least you will get compensated for it. Next time watch where you park (j/k don't kill me)

Ol Timer you are right on with your rant. I too hate when folks think thier precious cars are worthy of 2 parking spots. My philosophy is that people won't let you have anything nice. They have 0 respect for property of others. I don't care if someone has a POS car it is still worth something to the person that owns it. The type of person that takes up 2 spaces is just beckoning for someone to scratch their car just because.
