I think that whole article is a rumor and is BS. Bush is pulling troops out of Iraq by the end of the month. I think whoever wrote this article is just trying to get people all riled up in order to start a political battle. As was stated, there is a surplus of troops.

Well, like I stated, I sent an e-mail to my state rep. about the two bills that they are trying to pass. I hope he writes back so I can see what he has to say.

I don't agree with a draft. There are still men and women signing up for military service every day, and they havent lowered the standards yet. I don't doubt that our current administration is just sneaky enough to try and push one thru though.
When I was in high school, I couldnt wait to turn 18, save a few thousand bucks and move to Canada. I was fed up with everything about government, "the MAN" you name it. However, marriage and family found me at a young age, so that got pushed aside. But now, with a son and daughter to worry about constantly, if they bring back a draft, make room for me LOL, cause I dont want them to have to face that, If they CHOOSE to join the US Military, I will support them with all I have. But I want it to be THIER choice.
Having said that, my dad is an Ex Marine and Vietnam Vet, he agrees with my reasons 100 percent. It was his choice to join too.

Every man and woman over there is fighting to the teeth for a cause that half of them cannot justify anymore, and its sad to see the honest efforts go unnoticed. Instead of the world remembering the American efforts in the middle east as a push for good, it will be remembered negatively....that is truly sad.
Do we honestly think the draft will solve these problems?
As an outsider I cannot relate but I hate to see my American brothers and sisters sacrifice their lives for this "effort"
LMFAO! John Herry for president....eff John Kerry...bwhhahahahah

I too am against a draft. But I also don't see it happening. Last I heard, recruiters are still turning away applicants because they're full. That, and I didn't particularly care for some of the people I served with who volunteered. I sure as heck wouldn't want to serve with people that were forced to be there.
But, on the other hand, I think some sort of public service would be good for a lot of people. Force them to grow up some, and maybe all the stupid crap we're paying good tax dollars for to jail and parole people for will slow down....

You think we didn't discuss that while I was in?? Take all the murderers and gangbangers that think it'* fun to go running around shooting people up, and send them on the "People are going to die, but we gotta do it anyways" missions.
ANd a crack, all woman assault team. Wait til they're PMSing, and send 'em after Osama....

i like the idea of the all woman assault team goin after Osama, which who the heck knows where he is anyway. crazy little cave rat......
i too am against being forced to serve in the military, like its been stated weve got tons of people in there now, if there came a point where we didnt have more than enough troops then yeah i might think about it. and id probly make a halfway decent soldier, i can shoot pretty good, and have been an official redneck for almost 17 yrs, so there ya go US military, theres my resume right there.....ill be turning 18 right around summer 2005 so id be a prime candidate, except that i would be enrolled in college and im an only son so i might be last to be picked....and if i do get picked i might just be a prme candidate for that "Adopt a United States BC member program".....anyone want dibs? i swear i dont each that much....

http://thomas.loc.gov/ Click on this link, it will take you to the Library of Congress, which does all the documentation for the Govt., Type in "HR 163" in the "Bill "Number" box and you can read all about it. Nothing has been done on it since Feb. 2003!
