TOO CLOSE!!! SCARED THE *#@* out of me.
I was stopped at a stoplight and this mini-van decides to pull out between me and the car behind me. Of course the van couldn't see a thing. SLOW MOTION. I saw it coming. a Big Dual Cab Dodge Ram Dually. The van got his nose out in the other lane just enough. He caught the back axle of the truck. The massive truck just tore the van'* front end to pieces. All the pieces off the van (bumper guard, headlights, ext.) slammed into the car behind me tearing the front drivers sided head light and quarter panel up. I see all this from my rear and side view mirrors. Let just say the phrase "OBJECTS ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR" has new meaning now. If I had been one car back it I would have got some pretty good damage. I get out and start picking up pieces out of the road so the other cars don't hit them. I notice the truck is stopped in the middle of the road still. Looking closer when the truck clipped the van it was just with the back dual tires all that force of the impact ripped the back axle off the driver’* side of the truck. Seeing how hard this would be to drive the back end of the truck slid to the left and bounced off two other cars down the street. I was stuck there for about 45 min for whiteness purposes.

jebus, I now how the guy driving the truck felt... Before I bought my new truck I had a 92 dually ext cab 4x4 (454) and I spun out (on purpose) and I nailed a curb with my rearaxel broke the box(selfmade welder skid), shifted the axel, bent the wheels and yet the dealership still gave me 6k (Cdn) towards my new truck (03 dually crew cab 4x4 6.6 duramax chevy)

The thing is the guy in the truck had no idea what happened. He didn't see the van at all. He said all the sudden he just lost control. He got out of his truck and was just puzzled how his back axle was crooked.

**** like that happens to duallys... You'll always see a few with dented in rear fenders usually from dealerships letting the kids bag them into the repair bays. Also its a pain when Im on the job site, the extra rear wheel will get stuck in a divite

Damn!! How fast was the truck going? Stupid idot in a van should be held liable for the damage to all the vehicles. (Was it a female driver in the van...no offense girls, but I have a feeling. :? )

Again, someone misses the point. I bet when the guy in the truck finally realized what happened, the last thing on his mind was his axle. You ht, or get hit by, a van hard enough to break an axel like that, you gotta be thanking your lucky stars that everyone still has thier body parts attached. Not much room in the front of a van for damage like that and a full set of legs!

They guy had no idea what was going on. He didn't see the van at all it just got out in time to clip the rear tires. And yea the mini-van was pretty torn up. It looked like it almost ripped the radiator off the front. I couldn't believe no body got hurt.
Sorry, bonnie94sse it was a male driver.
