they spilled gas on my car...
ughhhh
So i while i was out tonight i decided to get some gas. I pull up to a nice big Super Wawa and tell the attendant to fill it up with Premium. Granted, I don't stare at the pump while its pumping gas into my car but after tonight i just might start. So the attendant comes back & hands me $2...confused, i asked him what it was for [as i had paid with credit] and he told me he spilled about that much out of the car and not to worry cuz he'll clean everything up. Even more confused I asked what he meant and he pointed to to ground...sure enough - gas was on the ground and down the side of my car.
Turns out the pump doesn't really shut off when its suppose to and the gas just starts pouring out...a problem that they were aware of but are waiting for "inspection" to get fixed. He cleaned up the car [basically wiped it up with towels] and after a short convo of me explaining how dangerous it was to keep pumping gas like that - i was out.
So i have the receipt which has the store number on it and right now i'm lead to just go ahead and report them. They knew the pump had a problem - yet they still decide to dispense gas from it? Sounds pretty ridiculous to me.
Just had to vent a lil' about that....

I had a similar experience yesterday, only it was me that was pumping the gas. I had the handle lock on and I did have my hand on the handle but loosly. When it filled up and caused the lock to click off the nozzle almost fell out of my car and splashed gas on me and my car. I wiped up the car quickly and then went straight to the car wash. I've never had that happen. It was so wierd!!!

Its nice to have your gas pumped for you imho. Spilled gas has never stained or ruined my paint. Guess with gas prices so high any wasted amount would **** me off too.

I'd have been SCREAMING at the guy! That is just hell on wax! And if that happened on an older car with a laquer paint job instead of clear-coat, it could have eaten several layers of paint off the car.
Stupid, irresponsible, and dangerous. I'd find out what department handles those inspections and give them a call.

well he gave me a whole $2 as compensation lol. I was more worried about the safety factor. The guy had already told me that someone theatened to kill him for spilling the gas on his paint like that. Either way they should just shut down the pump until its working properly.
*edit* - I do have the specific store # on my gas receipt, so i'll be calling them shortly and letting somebody'* superiors know about the unsafe practices going on there..
