Default damn hackers...

So I'm working on my laptop and all the sudden I notice my internet connection disappears, but I still have my internal Lan. So I go down 2 flights of stairs to the basement and find my DSL internet desktop. It had rebooted out of the blue. So I log it back in and then poke around on it and guess what.... There are about 15 new directories (all named **** like ~~0^ghee&***#$). So I cleaned them out, found a few other new exe files on it, and who knows what else. Normally I would sit down, clean the hell out of the system, and eventually get it back up and running again like new again. I mean hell, I've done it a dozen times already. Well, this time I said screw it. I have a firewall and what not, but after the DSL box. So I just ordered up an external stand alone DSL modem so there is no HD to hack. I know an external modem still isn't %100 secure, but it'll be a lot better than a wide open PC. I just had to vent a little bit. I really hate people who are malicous hackers. There may be a use for their skills, BUT NOT ON MY PC!!!

You have every right to vent, I can't stand that either. I have so much spyware software on my computer it'* ridiculous (3 of them, not including Ad-Aware SE). It took me a long time to get rid of some of the crap on my PC. The most annoying was when my homepage kept changing on me day after day.

My friend suggested that I switch to Mozilla Firefox also, since IE does have its flaws. So I run Firefox now, gotta love tabbed browsing.

Ad Aware kinda does nothing on my system anymore. It kinda fell off IMO, but maybe i just don't DL spyware. (i'm almost @ 100% legal for software! I honestly am trying, and it runs better, the less junk i installed this time)

I know people who run the world in protection and get virus' up the butt. I don't have a software firewall, and i just have NAV, and i've been perfect for a while... '

Watch what you DL kids.

The PC they hacked is a base image of 2k (i know, but I didn't want to get XP at the last time I rebuilt it). There is NOTHING on it other than what came on the OS disk. That is in fact probably half the issues. Oh well, my new modem will be here in 4 days. Besides, now instead of an oversized pc, 17" monitor, keyboard, blah, blah, I will have just one small box to hide somewhere in the house.

If you are just now ordering a DSL modem, how did you have it all hooked up before?

If you are now going to have a modem then just get a router that will maintain your DSL conenction and hook up to your pc and then to your laptop. So easy even you can do it, lmfao.

Oh maybe I should have said that after I get my gift, DAMN.

Ok, you ain't gettin jack shi... never mind. I'll still send it anyways.

I had/have an internal DSL modem for a deskop pc. The PC it is in is the one they hack. The external will take the PC out of the equasion but leave the DSL in tact. Besides, the DSL modem was cheaper than others I could have bought. I tried an "off the shelf" good one before but couldn't get it to work. Needs a "certain type" to work with the phone company'* DSL service.

So bite you're tongue jacka..., the laptop will ship as soon as I finish clearing it off... lol
