Tire Help
Well summer is here and I went to go put my summer tires on my Malibu. I noticed that I am getting very close to the wear bars and I do NOT want to chance it.
I am currently running a tire called Motomaster LXR touring tire ( I put on ALOT of mileage in a year). I found they lack a bit in the traction department. So I am looking for a change. Below I will show my choices and let me know if you have tried any of these tires before. OH and the price I quote are in CAD.
I apologies now for the larger pictures but I wanted to make sure you see the treads.
Here are my current tires, they are on sale right now for 75$ and have a 130,000km tread life warranty
I had a look at the Goodyear Assurance triple tread tires they are 129$ a piece with a 130,000 km tread life warranty
I was also looking at the Toyo Ultra 800 Touring tires, they have a 160,000kms tread life warranty and I can get them installed for 131,99$ each plus 15% tax
Then there is the Toyo TPT tire that are 8$ more each than the Ultra 800 Tires and come with 100,000km tread life
While at the store I seen a few that I liked the tread on so I got a quote on them too.
They are the Hercules HP 4000, they run 96,99$ each installed plus the great 15% tax, but I can't remember what kind of tread life on them, I am guessing around the 100,000km range
AND finally I seen the Merit Mystic Touring Tire, running at 92,99 each.
Now I have never really heard of the Hercules or the Merit for that matter. But the tread was pretty good on them and not bad price. But I don't wanna cheap out and get disappointed. Hence the reason I posted here to get opinions.

I was just reading up more on them and the Goodyear tires not only have 3 different sections to the tire for different conditions, but they actually use 3 different type of rubber for each condition.
Now I was also reading they are not that great of a winter tire, but I have true winter tires for that.

Well I hurried home to get my summer tires and rims on so the local shop could have a look and see how bad my tires were. Ended up snapping one of my rear studs, but that is fine, I got 4 more holding the rim on, hehe.
Anyhow I got a quote of 153$ each for the goodyear triple tread tires, then mentioned that the same store in a different city quoted me 130$ each. They said they would be able to match it, but that shop was basically giving it away. When he checked my tires, they still had 5/32 tread left. He told me that if it was him he would drive them longer. he also said he will still honor the price till at least June if I decide to change them.
Now I know the bare minimum is 2/32 before the wear bars are fully showing but to me I find them a bit too close to the wear bars for my liking. When I get my rear stud changed I will have the garage give me a second opinion on the tread left on it. In a few spots on the tires it is getting pretty close to the wear bars.
I guess it does help that I am getting about 4,000$ back for my income tax so I may still get them anyhow.

I am also considering the Good year triple treads....I can get them for $104 US per tire + installation and all that crap
I need tires and Sams Club has the triple treads......I will also go with the 235 instead of the 225 stockers
