cell phone updates like on Facebook and Myspace. When u get a message or a reply to a thread u are subscribed to u get a message to your phone saying what the message is. Not necessarily to a Android or Iphone but just a smartphone. I got a LG Chocolate Touch and i get text message updates from facebook and myspace that i got a message. and itll show the message.

We should also have Instant messaging like facebook and myspace. so u can talk one on one with someone instead of the drawn out process of sending PM'*

It shows the message if you have email notification but you have to have an email capable phone for it

Yeah, I get an email notification on my iPhone every time someone responds to one of my subscribed threads. Now I dunno about the whole text message deal.

You have to turn on your notification option in your profile settings. I will not go instant messaging or chats here. Period. You guys are getting ridiculous of what you expect from/on a Forum. This is a Forum. Period. If you want Instant Messaging, Open a browser and do it yourself. What'* next, snacks, movies. Maybe you'd like a massage girl sent to your room Raptor.??? Everything added as plugins/features makes more work for me, cost more money, and in most cases threatens security. Its real easy to sit back and whip things up. Quite another to implement. Getting tired of the "should have'*" Period. The more I try to cater, the more ridiculous and numerous it becomes here. Stop acting like pampered children and deal with this is a Forum. And one that although a commercial entity, shows you the respect of not having ads viewable to members. I have half a mind to tear the suggestions section right down because of a few people here that think they should have it all and have their diaper changed as well. My rant for the day.........I/We are not here to make the place a "Personal Forum" to 17,000 people. I've had enough.

GROOOOOOOOWL!!! LOL. I have enough plans, things to do, items to check out, research, find if feasible, go back and fill in the fine points, yada.yada.yada. In case you haven't noticed Summers here and I haven't even got all my toy'* out, uncovered, and enjoy. Expect deaf ears on most things for a bit. I do care about member concerns, want to keep current, and make the place as fun as possible. But feeling a bit overwhelmed with our short summers here and wanting to enjoy it.

Chats are out though. I won't allow Flash on the site, or a quirky old school plugin that bogs vB. Server Load/Security/Playing well with vB are concerns that can't all be answered well enough to consider. We pride ourselves in fast page loads and software performance. Pm'ing here is very easy and works instantly. If someone doesn't answer you right away, its the other end not wanting to be be bothered at the moment.... not the Forum software. I use Gtalk for Staff on my Forums. It Rules as far as not having all the clutter and extra'* I dont want and has a small memory demand. Get it, find Forum friends to hook into it, use it. There are alot of people that wouldn't want Inter Forum IM to begin with. Me included. Alot of us are at work, using mobile devices, have more than the Forum going on computer wise and just plain don't want the distraction. I have been on several Forums that went through the trouble (including this one in the past with an offsite Flash Based Link that worked half-assed at best, they are all very much memory and cache hogs) And everyone of them failed to be used by more than an occasional 2 or 3 members. This is a Forum. Not MySpace, Not FaceBook, Not Twitter, and not IM. Not feeling trying to emulate or compete with them. Try finding a tuning solution on FaceBook or Twitter and let me know how that works out for ya. hehehe........
