Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

Anyone else find this funny?

Listening to the radio here at work.
Commercial comes on talking about not liking to hear commercials on the radio, just music.
It was a commercial for Sirius satellite radio for sale at Radio Shack.
Just found it kinda ironic.

whats funny is that Sirius does have commercials... that pissed me off when i bought it "Commercial Free Radio" when in reality, it has a commercial after about every about 10 songs... and they are usually really long.

Actually, if you listen closely to that claim, they indicate that it'* only commercial free MUSIC. Not everything they broadcast is commercial-free - just the music stations are.

A quick Google search turned up lots of talk of plans of a merger back in February, but as far as I can tell it hasn't happened yet.

and it wont happen.

when XM wanted to start up the FCC would not let them start without a competitor, thats why sirius started, it is doubtful that they will allow a monopoly to develop now

Yes, you're right. XM is the same. And, it is just certain stations. Essentially all the non-music stations are subject to commercials.

Hmmm.wouldn't mind getting one or the other.
Frankly, I listen to the radio more than anything else now as it is.
