You could loose about 10 celsius with proper wiring.... My roomate has most of his IDE tucked behind the mobo tray, and the power cables are pretty much in corners of where they run. My dell is good save one IDE that covers the air inlet, so i might just throw a rouned IDE i have lying around in there....

Most of the wires are only in front of the PSU exhaust. The case runs a consistent 24C, and the CPU is always at 45C.

That'* a very bad thing to do, after short periods of time, dust builds up, and actually insulates all the paths on the board, and makes it very warm and lock up. Happened to a guy i know.

It seemed to get more dust when I had the sides on. Big dust bunnies in the bottom, and everywhere else.

Dust will accumulate no matter what. There are always small holes in the cases where dust will enter.

Basic A+ training will tell you that the case is an important part of cooling and that the air flow across the boards is important. Removing the lid basically makes your case fans a waste of time. Therefore, the other boards in the computer are not getting air flow and are not being cooled either. So, why remove the side of the case

Dust is going to build up no matter what. You just need to clean more often!! Believe me the desert has enough of it!
