Well, I get to post Im a big FAILURE, for second semester in nursing school. Now everyone is thinking I hope he never touches me. I passed clinical and skills ( giving shots and cleaning wounds and giving drugs) but failed lecture.

Lecture is hardcore. I get the stuff, I could probobly pass a essay type quiz the first time with a 90 or better. But these darn CRITICAL thinking questions are tuff. Tuff Tuff. Im not giving up. Just set back a little. Im so thankfull. My wife still supports me emotionally and financially. My kids will get to see that failure doesnt mean your a looser and quiting isnt an option.

Spent this whole semester basically avoiding family and friends. Living with my nose in the books. And my arse in the hospital. Arg.

Anyone know how a person can get tested for learning diorders. Im serious.... I found out my oldest has serious dislexia and ADD. Looks like it all came from me. We had him diagnosed in the 4th grade. Now that he moved to Jr high we had to move him to a special private school that deals exclusivly with children with these issue. ***** by the way if you suspect your child has one of these,, get going on it now, the pay off is huge,, my son is doing great now. Just wonderful...

Anyhow seems like it comes from me. I need a diagnosis to be able to get some tutoring from the school to help get through Nursing school.

It'* not easy but it is worth it. We all learn in different ways. Just keep at it.. you might have to work harder at it than the next guy but the payoff will be more meaningful to you in the end.

I know a buddy who'* in my program who has a learning disability. When he gets the accomodations he needs for the tougher exams/tests (read: extra time), he can fare much much better than some of the other (normal) buffoons who just don't try.

Keep at it, put the time and effort in and you'll be able to succeed.

A major set-back can really slap down your self-esteem but, as others have said, it'* not a failure until you give up. So, don't let this setback do that to you...get back in there and fight for what you want.

My son was diagnosed with learning disabilities when he was quite young. I was told that if I was very lucky, he just might be able to live in a group home some day. Well, we weren't going to have his fate sealed at that early age, so with a lot of hard work on everyone'* part...he attended college, is holding down two jobs, is married, out on his own with two children so, don't let labels get to you either. What you do is find your strong points in your learning process. For some it'* doing, others reading, and still others learn better by hearing (having it read to them rather than reading it).

The last I heard, no one really knows what causes the many forms of "learning disabilities" so don't blame yourself there, either.
