ok here is the deal I got a hp laptop and well the usb ports are not reconig nizing them and they feel loose is there any way to repair it or is it all but done. I bought an extended warranty at the place I got it and it is still under warranty with them but the hp warranty is gone and they quoted me 300 to fix itat hp. would the extended warranty claim the part failure as wear and tear or not since that is not covered

yeah, my old toshiba laptop had that same exact problem. i believe that accidental damage coverage would repair that. for me, all my problems added up to $2500 and they just gave me a new laptop instead. see what they say.
if you're good with electronics, you can resoulder the connections also.

Just to cover the obvious here, in the control panel, the USB root hub driver is recognized and running, correct? Also, have you tried reinstalling the driver just to make sure it'* not a hardware problem?
Many times, the usb "card" will feel loose inside the laptop, but is normal and should still function properly.
If you have tried reinstalling the software, and make sure there are no interrupt request collisions, or port collisions, then I would go the replacement route.
Then again, if you still have a warranty, let them figure it out either way.
