Default Lincoln LS?

What'* everyone'* opinion of the Lincoln LS V8? The one I'm looking @ is a 2001 w/ 70k. I'm thinking of letting my girlfriend drive the Bonneville, and I may get a new car. I looked at this LS, and I also looked at a 2007 Pontiac G6..which I also like. The LS is RWD and based on the same platform as the Jaguar *-Type.

I'll tell you now. They are NOT fast. 0-60 for the V8 is 7.8 seconds (even mine can do a 7.5), which IMO isn't very impressive for a 285hp V8. If you think about it, the LS is 3900lbs with 280hp, and the 00+ SSEi is 3900lbs? with 240hp, and manages to pull a 7.0 0-60.

Hmmm..good point on the 0-60 times. Interesting considering it'* a 5 speed auto.

I like those cars myself too. I honestly don't care about how fast it is. There'* alway mods for these kind of things.

Be sure to inspect it very well

A Friend of mine had one, and keeps looking to buy a new one. He says he misses it. I didn't know him when he owned it, so can't give you a personal experience...

2001 LS is 252 HP.
I have two brothers with Lincoln LS V8'* and I agree they are slouches, but they sound SOO sweet revving.
Also, one thing to consider is the need to use up trunk space in winter for about 150 lbs of sand bags, and mandatory excellent tires in snow.
Aside from that I like the looks, the comfort of the seats, heated seats and damn I love RWD brake stands, 360'*, etc.....

They went up in horsepower to like 285 in 2003 I believe. I was looking pretty serious at getting one myself, but the premium fuel and higher maintenance costs eventually turned me off. I drove an '04 V8 and it had plenty of power and drove amazing. The '02'* are OK, but from my research the '00 and '01'* had some issues. Really there isn't anything major with these cars except the coils going bad from what I read.
