I think Andrew will only have to add a 1/4-20 stud to that, but ultimately, I think he'll be lacking one axis of adjustment.
It is VERY stable. My in-car vids at Woodburn are pretty cool with mine. Just get the camera set and locked down, leave it in video mode, and you're ready.
It helps to have a small mirror in the car to know it'* aimed/adjusted right, or pre-aim it while sitting in the back seat, then lock it down. You won't see the gauges on a sunny day, as the camera will adjust to the light coming in the windshield, and darken the gauges. Unless you aim and focus on the gauges themselves.
