My brother is allergic to metals, he gets infections and stuff with anything except titanium or something like that.

So true. Been married for over 5 years. Sometimes you just have to keep silent.

Taken from a heath website.
i have actually heard otherwise about oral piercings... i believe i read it in the pamphlet i got when i had my labret pierced that oral piercings are less likely to develop to infection due to natural enzymes in the saliva (this of course is dependent on rinsing your mouth out after eating for the first few days)

This is a funny story!! I recall getting into the EXACT same "dispute" shortly after we were married, too.

I used to think of it as a way for her to get real jewelry...but, there is truth to it. Plated jewelery gives my wife skin irritation too.

By now, you know it'* true John. When my wife has to wear something that not stainless, or at least 14K gold, she will coat the post or loop with some triple antibiotic before using them.

I certainly can understand your initial skepticism though, with all the urban legends and outright false information flying around out there.

She'* never complained about anything I bought her, of course that'* always been gold with a certain princess cut clear rock in it. After I replied the first time I went to bed. She asked why I didn't believe her. I said infections are caused by living things. Maybe it'* just an allergic reaction.

Then she said "Right, I get an infection."

I said "No, honey, that'* not the same thing. Good night."

I may be wrong, but i think the confusion comes from the Peircing places. They tell you that if you buy the cheap earings when you get them pierced then you can get an infection.
Once the piercing has healed, it wont get "infected", it would just be an allergic raction. I htink an ifection would have to somehow get into the bloodstream, rather just just come into contact with the skin.
