Can you imagine the variety of info on one at a Post Office or Public Library. Now that it'* gotten exposure on the News, there will be alot more breaches/theft of ID.

Well in a sense it does have purpose because a hard drive can be cheaper to achieve faster speeds, therefore making it a cost effective cache and retaining customer satisfaction in the operation of the unit. The downside is hard drives are easy to recover data while volatile flash memory is virtually impossible to recover once the unit is powered off.

Ugh, that is just utterly scary!
But did you hear what the guy said about how much it costs for the upgraded option to delete the info is? $500. What does this remind you of? It makes me think that these copier companies are aware of the risks when these copiers are sold elsewhere, but don't care. They want the money. It also mirrors the Anti-Virus, and Malware industry. Do you think its really hackers making trojans? It'* probably the AV software makers that create the malicious software just to stay in business.
As the old saying goes, best way to catch a thief is to think like a thief.
Most software companies hire "hackers" to test their own networks.
