Default Chantix

November 14, 2012... I started Chantix. First four days it was 0.5mg once a day. Then it went to X2 a day. After the 7th day, it goes to 1.0mg X2 a day for 21 more days. That'* the first script.

I was kinda worried about the side effects during the first few days. You know, the ones about suicide, nightmares, unable to sleep, severe mood swings and a whole lot more. Funny thing was, I couldn't have been happier the first couple of weeks. You could have blown up my car, and I still would forgive you.

I made day 4 to be my quit night. Morning of day 5...nope. Couldn't last more than 20 minutes when I got up for work. Next time, goto bed having NO cigs in the house. So, I tried again day 5. It was weird at first. Something was lacking during that first cup of coffee. So, I took my zippo, lit a candle, stood and looked at it for 5 minutes. Blew it out and went to the computer. Since that day, I haven't had to do that or anything out of the ordinary to bypass my need. Even at work, I can stand with the other guys(down wind of course) and not be bothered.

That is, until Nov 30th. 3PM is my normal time to take my evening pill. Ooops. missed it. Not only did I miss my evening pill, but I didn't realize I missed the next morning'* pill until 24 hours later. Which means I haven't had a pill in 36 hours. I thought to myself that I felt I was doing fine with and without it. Why not stop taking it? STOP. Wrong answer.

Did you know that the side effects of going off of Chantix is FAR worse than it is taking it? Granted, I only had a couple of minor dreams, but, the ability to knock myself 2 seconds after going to bed is next to IMPOSSIBLE to do now. And the dreams, lol, far more and more vibrant!(somehow even Sarah got in on one). I visited a few forums dedicated to WEENING ones self off of Chantix. You actually have to spend MORE money on Chantix and continue taking it at a reduced rate.

Anyhoo. It'* been 5 days now without it. After seeing some of the horror stories about stopping the meds, I'm glad I stopped now and not another month down the road.

Any one else here tried it or are thinking about taking Chantix?

Never heard of Chantix, but congrats on taking care of yourself and getting the cigarette poison out of your body. It is very tough to quit, but those that do quit show incredible discipline and will power.

Ya know Mike, its easier to just hit the Quote button at the bottom of each post.

Congrats Rich!!

So far, I'm doing ok. Still having issues trying to fall asleep, and then around 330, I wake back up and flop around like a salmon out of water. I just don't get it, I've been off the meds for about 8 days now and I'm almost at wits end.

Thanks for letting me know, I will start to use that option.

BTW- I have been transferred to Scottsdale, AZ and drank some rancid beer at happy hour at a place called "Native New Yorker" in Mesa last night. Woke up with a out of control wacky dream of Sara and you doing the "Opaa Gangnam Stlye" dance in the bed of Sara'* truck.

Maybe you should mix rancid beer with Chantix to nuetralize/counterbalance the dream effects

You sir, are a very sick, sick man.

And it makes me wonder, why were you standing there watching us dance in the back of her truck? Were you hoping to be the 3rd pivot man?

BTW, anything that deals with NY in another state, you probably shouldn't deal with it.
