Default Help Buying an IPod

I need help finding the best, not necessary the least expensive, place to buy an IPod.

Right now the criteria is that I want to be able to copy CD tracks to the IPod and maybe do some down loads from the internet. I need to be able to copy the CD with the least amount of hassle as possible.

I am not completely ignorant about IPods in that I know they do come in various storage sizes but I do not really know how to translate storage space to minutes of WAV file storage. I also know that an MP3 format takes up less storage space than a WAV file.

Any help will be appreciate. This is a gift for my wife so I want to buy a new IPod.

if you want ideal service and advice, you woul'd probly be good findign an apple store, altho that would be retail price which is considerably more than buying online, for the leastamount of hassles operating the ipod, you mgiht want to go on ebay and get an earlier generation one before they implimented all the security features into it

i know online you can get an "educational discount." If you know are a student or teacher you can get it, and even if you're not just pick a random school and say you are a student. I believe you get 15% off, I'm not sure if this works in store too. Thats at apple.com btw. Use .mp3 over .wav because it takes up less space and you won't tell a difference in sound quality. You can rip your cds right in iTunes. You can buy songs and videos (assuming you get an iPod with video) right in iTunes, or import music you've "bought" elsewhere.

i have a 60 gb iPod, i got mine directly from apple.com. I would reccommend at least 30 gb. I have 15000 songs on mine so far, and if you make the settings right with iTunes all you have to do to put a CD on there is pop it in your computer and it will rip and automatically update onto ur pod...VERY SIMPLE...but for getting them cheaper...dunno i got my with my name engraved at apple.com...good luck

One thing I would suggest is to download iTunes software (it'* free) and start organizing your music ahead of time. Also, all your files will be converted to the proper ipod format so once you get the ipod you'll have everything organized and ready to upload. I have a 4GB mini and still have an extra 1.something GB left. It totally depends how big your collection is though.
