why do computers always
"beep" and make noise on shows like CSI and Law and Order??
anyone else know what I am talking about?
Everytime something comes up they make like a tick or a different "beep"

ive often pondered that myself, they always makes strange sounds that no real computer actually makes.
I also dont think ive ever seen a computer on tv running a Windows OS.....hmmm conspiracy!

I've seen plenty runing Windows OS, beut nost of the time they do either have "custom" OS'* or they skin whatever they are using (no advertising. You don't pay, you ain't in the show)
As for the beeps, it'* tradition. And entertainment. Think about how "exciting" it would be to watch someone using a silent computer. Especially in a lab like that where speakers are most likely verboten, like in my office (too many computers, too much noise.)
There are programs out there, tho, that add an extra property yo each icon. You open Word, you get a noise. Yoour browser, another noise.
