How did you get them home?
My dilema is that NY doesn't issue travel plates. So I'd have to go look at, buy it, come back with the title, register it, then go back and drive it home. Here are what I came up with so far:

A bus ticket to there is a 12hr ride at $70. Drive it home on old NY plates but still uninspected, & unregistered.

one way Airline or having it transported are almost the same at ~$400 but at least I don't have to worry about registration issues if I had it transported.

Neither of my cars is big/heavy enough to use a tow dolly or car carrier.

Anyone have another idea?

btw - the seller is not keen on me driving it back with his plates/insurance on it; I already asked.

both of my Bonneville'* were purchased out of state, my 95 in OH and my 00 in KY

my 95 was purchased from a dealer, so i got the temp dealer plates and window sticker

my 00 was purchaed from a private seller, and he let me keep the rear plate for the drive home, however, I had the copy of the title and your are given a 10day grace on car insurance

i would say to fly there

Where is it? In NY or another state I ask this because if Nolan is fully recovered I might be able to get you a copied dealer plate lol

I bought mine from Canada (as if everyone didn't already know). I tried for a week to get a temp. registration/plate so I could drive it from there to CT (8 hour drive).

The people at the DMV said I needed the actual title to get a temporary plate. I explained to them that I can't have the title when I don't OWN the car yet. They expected Jim to send me the title when he was still driving it. I got a photocopy of the title because one person said that would be fine. I brought it in but that wasn't good enough for the next person I saw. I swear the DMV I went to was full of idiots.

I gave up and took a 14-hour bus trip one way, and drove the 8 hours back with Canadian plates. Crossing the border with Canadian plates wasn't even an issue surprisingly. Customs never even asked for proof that I bought the car.

let me know where it is. If it is not too far from me, we have a 24' open car trailer that has already hauled all three of my bonnevilles.

What are you buying?

There was a 1995 SE in rochester for $2250 with 30k on it on craigslist a few days ago though. might be gone by now.

looking for the wife?
