Default Camera GURUs I need help

I was wondering if

Canon Rebel XT (Silver Body) - 9355 acutuations, includes box and all original accessories, documentation, warranty info, etc. A used camera, but gently used; a few minor hairline scratches on the LCD, only noticable under light at an angle, no other mentionable scratches, 8.5-9.0/10 overall - $509
Will throw in a 1GB Kingston Elite Pro compact flash card with the XT.

Was worth the price???

I need to know asap before it gets sold.

For a Rebel, thats a pretty good deal. Those new go for at least 800 if I remember right. Is this including the lens assembly too?

My friend bought that new for around $750. I'd be worried it was used...but it'* up to you. Is this an ebay auction? As long as the feedback on the seller seems good and you can trust it'* in fine shape then it'* a good deal.

Only a good deal if it includes the lens.

Don't forget Canadian dollars, they're about $1100 including kit lens up here.

Mike, if you're going to jump on this deal, what lenses did you have in mind?

I am pretty new to the "better camera" thing. I have only had the P&* digital cameras. I know our dollar is great right now, just checked this morning and was almost at 0,90$ US.

I guess I would rather pay 750$ new complete than 500$ used, no lens.

The whole ball game of lenses will be a learning experience. I figured I might as well get myself something for my b-day, lmfao.

edit: I am pretty sure I am going to stick with Canon, I have always like their products and they have been around for a long time. I don't wanna get top of the line, but I want something better.

EDIT#2: I was looking at future shop online and I found these 2

Is that the same camera?? Is the only difference that one has a lense and the other doesn't??

Yep, the Digital Rebel XT is the 350D.

The next step up is the 20D (and new 30D) model, but I doubt that you'll take full advantage of it. Save your money, if you want SLR, go 350D/Rebel XT.

Well I went to go "look" at cameras tonight, knowing full well I would walk out with something.

I had looked at a few online and knew what I wanted. I bit the bullet and bought this one

http://www.canon.ca/english/index-pr...23&gid=2&ovr=1

It is the canon S3 IS. I was looking at the Rebel XT, and the girl had to go and take one out of the box, put the lens on it and give it to me to play with. After just one picture I knew I wanted it. BUT for once I had to think about how much use it would get.

Considering I do not do this to make money or in any kind of professional manner, I figured that the S3 would do what I wanted it to. 12X optical zoom, IS ( Image Stabilizer technology), plus you can take videos with it. But boy is that Rebel XT a nice piece of equipment. Not to mention it would be almost twice the price for the rebel compared to the S3.
