Default Year Off

Who'* taken a year off from college? I'm seriously considering it... I have no clue what I want to do with my life. Computer Science people are so boring, and even though I love programming, I don't know if I could do it for a living. I just don't know. I really need some advice right now. Thanks

I wouldn't. Get it done and over with. Then take a year off to look at your options.

Keep going. Don't like programming all of the time? Want more pay? Switch to a computer engineering degree.

It may be harder to go back to college if you take a year off...if you want a degree that'* a tough decision. But you don't need one to be successful. It sure doesn't hurt though, especially in your field.

I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do either. I went to college for something other than my job now. While it'* not that far off (illustration vs. graphic design), it could open me up to something new and lead me to what I possibly will do until I retire.

Once you start working you'll learn much quicker what it is you want to do. It'* hard to know when you're in school what it is you want to do...don't worry, everyone goes through that at one time or another.

yeah, tonight was a bad night, and last night was a real low point in terms of morality . I just want to make some money, I mean, I'm sick of learning all this stuff and not put any of it to use, you know? I just feel like I'm ready for a new world, and that world isn't college.

(just to let you know, got the paper done, no serious marks on the paper. Thanks a bunch, you guys! I'll tell you the grade when I get it back )

Petey, some classes will be useless but some will be useful. It'* only how you use your learnings.

Pete, I would never judge anyone for what they do for work.

A Man that has a Job is a Man.

So true, I mean, some of the greatest people I've met worked as fast food workers.
There'* always the option of transferring. I might just go down the road to U of C, a great engineering school. Maybe it'* just the fact that I'm used to having things to do, friends to do stuff with, etc, etc. I definetly need a semester or two to churn this over before I raise the white flag. Thanks Gumby and everyone else for helping me out with this. Sometimes I just completely lose it...
