He already used it on me on another thread tonight, so i used it on him, if you're looking at both, it'* saved in cache for a reason...
Just cause i get reamed $2k or so for my web space, but have free tuition....

I would say...for your all around good camera...
Camera...extra batteries, flash card,etc,
Around the $500 mark is where you'll end up.
I own a Canon...few years old now....and love it...
I give my vote to the Canon.
But you need to look at a few things...
What do you like to take pictures of?
Indoors outdoors?
Are you in need of a user friendly camera?
Size.....very important....shirtpocket...pants pocket....coat pocket...duffle bag size

Take your time.....get your money'* worth......

i would currently reccomand a cannon a80 or a G7 or G8(i think it is now) they are both GREAT cameras (i hae an a70, which is also good). I am partial to cannon but thats just my .02

Hey whisky98, make sure you check out the spring meet in Toronto. I'm planning it, and we're stopping in wisconsin to meet up with everyone. Lots of use for a camera then
