It'* bad enough these men and woman are away from their family, but now they cut off these links of communication as well as 11 others.

Unfortunately, I understand why they had to do it. It'* called OPSEC (Operational Security). Some people, you can train 'em and train 'em, but they will still give out information they shouldn't. So, like most rules, it'* made to protect the majority from the lowest common denominator...

it is nto like they are cutting all means of communication I was over there you have phones and some computers. The biggest thing is you can email and honestly what do you need myspace for that email can't take care of. can you send pics yes can you communicate yes can you read what is written to you yes. the only thing is that you have to use a different avenue. I really don't understand why they are complaining it is called adapt and overcome. If one door closes go through the window simple as that

Of course the forces will overcome it, But why make them do that in the first place?
OPSEC? More like "Not spend a lot on bandwidth since we're so far in the hole" Trusting your troops in the field is paramount. Those who don't trust can't be trusted.

The bandwidth thing is a disgrace. The OPSEC issue is valid, except I didn't understand why they let it go on for 4 years. They should have improvised, adapted, and overcame that issue years ago.
Then two days after they shut down access to YouTube, the Pentagon sent out a direction for the troops in Iraq to check out the latest electronic newsletter of the US-led Multi-National Forces-Iraq (MNF-I) . I follow it. It has the purpose of keeping the troops informed and this week has a good piece by Gen. Petraeus.

I am in Al Udied right now, and I cannot get to MySPace. I tried And I do understand why they did it. OPSEC. And yes, it should not have taken 4 years, but better late than never.
But I can email, and BC, too So no complaints here!
