Bass, I agree with your "muscle car" comment. I always thought the '92 -'99s looked like a cross between the '77 Trans Am and a Mercedes.

95Bonne, I also agree with your opinion of the new MC and GP. The MC definitely looks like a cross between the new, clean, modern (front) and the big American muscle of the early 70'* (back.) And for the new GP, I really do like some of what I see in that car although I wish they would have taken it further. It doesn't look aggressive enough for my tastes. Maybe it'* just because they dumped the 2-door model.

And what'* up with the new GTO? Styling aside, how can an Australian import carry the GTO name? That'* just not right. Although it wouldn't be the first time Pontiac killed a good name. Remember the LeMans?

Holden has been making the Holden GTO and GTS for a while now. The Pontiac GTO was the original inspiration for Holden. But the Aussies have always done things differently than the we Yanks--the prefered muscle car for the land down under was the four door Commodore when we were still into the two door muscle. At least it is still a GM division making the new Pontiac GTO. GM is taking corporate motors theory to a new level--Corporate cars--just change the badging and call it a Poncho.

As for the LeMans...need I say anything? A race inspired the name, the car originally lived up to the name--even if it wasn't as strong as the GTO, but alas....Korea :? What was GM thinking????? 1.6 l of pure Korean what??? Certainly not workmanship, nor performance, ...not even comfort. It went the way of the Nova.

I'm not sure what the future gens of Bonneville will look like... but if the GXP is any indication... I'm more then happy with it.

Is it true that the GXP is only avail in black?..... cause that would rock!! :P

And I agree with mista_sse'* comment about the wood grain... it should be standard in the Bonneville.... it just so nice.

What the hell was that? That would really make our resale value go down!

Photoshop that woody panel Bonneville into a station wagon, and you might have what the "Bonneville Safari" would look like today, if they had continued it.

(I'm glad they didn't..... our Bonnie'* as "station wagons" would suck.... (hehe.. Taurus')

Hey bud, the Holden was the inspiration for the GTO. They had a commodore in Hot Rod magazine, and they got a lot of praise, and letters. Lutz got word of it, and said lets make it emission legal and bring it over. Can't wait for that solstice either, a nice pontiac roadster. I love the 92-99 bonneville, it reminds me of muscle cars a lot too, especially a 94-97 Impalla SS. My rear end is stuck up a little too like the impallas. I wish the Monte'* woulda built off the laste 80s style, the Monte SS from then was killer looking. New Impallas aren't that bad IMHO, but it seems all cars like to have a narrow nose up front now, which is why the bonneville looks so good. It'* still wide up front for the most part.

Relax. I wouldn't really vandalize Silver that way. Although Photoshop would.

But how do you guys feel about this?

Not sure how I feel about it.

I don't like it...... the pillars would stick out like sore thumbs with the roof off.... and the rear windows not going down all the way would kill the convertible appeal of the car.

why would anyone do that to a Bonneville.....

I mean the older Bonnies (50s - 60s) that were mean't to be convertibles were cool.... but our models 87+ would need serious conversion... not just putting a rag top on it.
