Default Bonneville > Astro Van > All

So my car is in the dealership for service (had to same day parts from lower ohio to fix the car.) So they give me a loaner which is a Chevy Astro Van no idea what year but not a bad looking (shape wise vehicle).

Now typically in the past i have never been real partial to using a alternate car for a few days while repairing any of my other cars. But i miss my car and want it back the car is just to convienent(sp) Easy to get the kid in and out of as well has fast and good gas mileage. (note to self) get another bonneville so this doesnt happen again.

My wife has an Astro Van. I believe it'* a 96. it'* starting to show it'* age, but I kinda like it. It'* not quite full size, but not a mini-van either. I'm pretty sure it'* a half ton frame.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer driving my Bonne, but for a second vehicle, the van ain't too bad.

I have a friend that has one, he took the 3.8 out and put a 350 in it

they make a kit to do that, it fits very well in there.

ah, the DisAstro van. I love those things.

I bought a 1994 RWD model a 2.5 or so years back at an auction for $600. Not only was it a sweet deal, it was a FULL CONVERSION!

White exterior with sweet airbrushed graphics in green and blue down the sides, a white bug deflector, a white roof visor, a ladder going up the back leading to the roof rack, quad recliners and the rear bench folded to a bed.

It also had running boards and fat little rims and tires. The interior also had plush carpet, miniblinds and velour curtains and wood trim.

The A/C didnt work and the 4.3 V6 only ran on 5 cylinders and missed like a ****, and the exhaust was falling off, so it sounded like a cammed big block.

I drove it for a few months and soldit for $800. I STILL SEE IT driving around. Lucky bastids!

a 350?? I can only see like 2 spark plugs on that freakin thing as it is. That would be the one thing ZI hate about it, too much routine maintenance I can't do....

You get at the motor from inside the van itself...the "doghouse". What a total PITA.

Not that it really matters, but I'm pretty sure the Astro/Safari use the *-10 frame.
